THE TROJAN WAR?

Cashing in on Y2K - never mind that the century doesn't really begin until 2001 - has gotten down to some very personal nuts and bolts: the makers of Trojan and Lifestyles condoms have unveiled rival millenium condoms.

Ansell Healthcare Products has unwrapped Millenium 2000 lubricated latex condoms, "for people who plan to start the new Millenium with a bang," says Reuters, while Trojan has unwrapped the Supra Microsheer - the company's first-ever non-latex condom, which it says will "heat up sex" for the "new Millenium".

Millenium 2000 will come in a range of colors, including ruby red, bold blue, and midnight black. "Recent surveys indicate that more than half of the world's young people plan for their new millennium celebrations to include sex,'' says Ansell vice president of marketing Carol Carrozza to Reuters - referring to a survey published by Durex, a major condom maker.

The new Trojan is futuristic enough, made in an automated process with advanced robotics, the company says. And they say the products will keep working, especially if the lights go out on New Year's Eve.
