Arizona Sen. John McCain made it a particular point to come out in favor of mandatory Internet filtering software to block porn at public libraries during the sharp South Carolina primary campaign - but the Harvard Current is now reporting a banner ad for McCain has appeared on an Asian porn site.
The magazine reports in its Spring 2000 issue that it spotted an ad placed by the McCain campaign on Asian Pleasures, the self-proclaimed number one Asian porn site on the Net. The site is hosted on www.theglobe.com, a free Web page hosting site and portal.
Theglobe.com director of advertising Will Margiloff tells the Drudge Report the McCain campaign bought ad space with theglobe.com targeting viewers according to geographic region where they log on. And, under the ad contract, the McCain ad could appear on any and all sites theglobe.com hosts.
The McCain campaign has not yet commented on the banner ads at the porn site.
