THE CASE OF THE PRICEY PANTY RAIDER

He's a cleaning service operator with a passion for pricey panties, and now his fetish has the law cleaning up after him: he's been arrested for stealing nearly $5,000 worth of women's undergarments during a two-month spree, say Baltimore County police.

Randall Scott Hieronimus was charged with two counts of first-degree burglary, three counts of attempted first-degree burglary, and one count of grand theft, APBNews.com says. He's been released on $25,000 bail.

The first break-in happened Oct. 12 in Sparks, a suburb north of Baltimore. The victim told police the only missing items were 30 bras and panties, valued at $250, APBNews says.

On Nov. 3, a nearby resident reported 150 lingerie items missing, many imported, valued at nearly $4,000, APBNews continues. Twice more that month came other, unsuccessful break-in attempts, and this month someone tried yet another such break-in at the second residence.

During a Nov. 9 attempt, police tell APBNews, the suspect went back to the second residence and left a note with a pair of underpants on the victim's car.

Seven days later, a female jogger told police her car was broken into while she was out jogging, with several items stolen including her purse and a cell phone, APBNews says. In late November, a state trooper - himself out jogging - found the property from the car and a bra and underpants linked to one of the residences burglarized.

The December break-in prompted police to set up a surveillance camera, gaining information about a possible suspect and his vehicle, APBNews says. On Dec. 28, Hieronimus was seen driving his truck in the neighborhood by an officer on routine patrol. He was taken for questioning, then arrested and charged.

"He would see a woman who caught his eye, follow her back to where she lived and come back several days later and commit the crime," Corporal Vickie Warehime tells APBNews. "He did not know them and knew nothing about them."
