TEXAS HOTEL CHAIN DROPPING ADULT PPV FILMS

Saying they conflict with its "pro-family" policy, Texas-based Omni Hotels will quit offering pay-per-view adult films at its 43 hotels around the world by next June.

The chain has already yanked adult videos and magazines from hotel gift shops, and could stand to lose some $3 million in revenues over the next few years by ending the adult film offerings.

Omni owner Robert Rowling is a "pro-family advocate," according to the chain's vice president for marketing Peter Strebel, and adult films "(were) in direct conflict to his moral ethics and he didn't want to profit from adult movies."

The conservative Family Research Council has applauded Omni's move. Spokeswoman Janet Parshall says a corporation stepping forward like that against porn will mean people "gravitate" toward them.

At least one other hotel chain, Atlanta-based Jameson Inns, has ended adult movies - but that's because not enough guests have asked for them, according to Conservative News Service. They own 88 Jameson Inns around the South and 26 Signature Inns in the Midwest.
