Student Sues Adult Distributor Over Misused Self-Portrait

TAMPA BAY, Fla. - A British teenager has filed a lawsuit against adult distributor TVX Home Video for allegedly misusing her image on a hardcore video box cover. Lara Jade Coton, now 18, claims that her image on the box cover creates the assumption that she is involved in the adult industry.

According to a report by the Smoking Gun, in a copyright lawsuit filed yesterday in U.S. District Court in Florida, Coton charges that her photo — which was taken when she was 14 — has appeared on the cover of Body Magic, a 1982 adult film which was recently reissued.

The scantily clad image of Coton was allegedly lifted from her website during the Body Magic box cover design.

After discovering she was on the cover, Coton contacted one of the film's distributors, requesting compensation. According to the report, Coton's appeal to the company was rejected with the reply, "Nice try toots. We are still going to remove you from the art, not because of your claim but let's face it your picture means very little to the film."

Coton's photo has since been replaced on the box cover.
