year-old girl was sentenced, on March 11, to three years of probation for not ejecting a male stripper from her teenager's Halloween party. The court, in Pleasanton, California, said the mother should have stopped the strip performance and then found her guilty of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Even though Carye McGrath's daughter hired the stripper for her party on October 30, Alameda County Judge Christine Moruzo said it was the mother's responsibility to stop the party. During the sentencing of McGrath, 39, Moruzo commented, "I think you're a good person. You're not the person with the horns and tail that you've been made out to be, but you failed to stop things when they got out of hand."
Moruzo's ruling went beyond placing McGrath on three years of probation, however. The ruling also ordered her to make written apologies to the parents of the party's guests, undergo psychological counseling, perform 240 hours of community service and pay a $350 fine.
One can't help but wonder what will happen to the stripper who performed at the Halloween party when he shows up for his court appearance on March 17. The stripper hired by McGrath's 15-year-old daughter has been identified as Steven Schmitt, 29. He has pleaded guilty to both a felony charge of sexual battery, as well as a misdemeanor count of engaging in an obscene live performance.
