LOS ANGELES - On a night when young and beautiful porn starlets took the stage to thank the fans for awards like Favorite Breasts, Favorite Ass and Hottest Body, Wicked Pictures contract star Stormy Daniels won in a traditionally male-dominated category: Favorite Director.
"That's the one I really wanted, too," Stormy said on stage. "I pour my heart and soul into the movies I direct." She paused, looked at her statue and then smiled back at the crowd. "This is really awesome."
Stormy bested multiple award-winners Paul Thomas, John Stagliano, Jules Jordan, Eli Cross and Brad Armstrong, along with the only other female on the ticket, Belladonna.
"It was the least expected but the most appreciated award," Stormy told AVN. "It was the last one I thought I was going to win. It's always nice to win but the awards that come from the fans are always the sweetest."
What's next for one of porn's most recognized female directors?
"Total world domination," she joked. "It was funny, after Operation Desert Stormy did so well, I took six months off. I mean, how do you beat 'Best Movie Ever'?"
Operation Desert Stormy took home Best Sex Comedy at the 2008 AVN Awards and has spawned a franchise. Just prior to Erotica LA, Stormy wrapped the fourth day of shooting on the sequel Operation Tropical Stormy; she heads to Hawaii next week to finish the movie.
"This award is a great way to kick off Operation Tropical Stormy," she said. "Hopefully it's a sign of things to come."
