Stockholm Stink Bombs

Womens' rights activists pelted a Stockholm cinema with stinkbombs in protest of the inclusion of "Sex - The Annabel Chong Story" in the program of the 1999 Stockholm Film Festival. Swedish feminists are saying the film undermines female empowerment.

"This gives a cultural alibi for female degradation. An utter hatred of women is the reason for the Stockholm Film Festival's decision to screen this film," the saboteurs told news sources. Festival manager Git Scheynius was unfazed after the attack on the Skandia cinema.

"We live in a democratic society where we must have debate," Scheynius said. "It is not us they should attack but the porn industry. We have tried to elevate the debate to a higher level."
