Starnet Sells Adult Division to Chisel Media

Consummating plans formed last fall, Starnet International has sold off its online adult entertainment division to Chisel Media. With the acquisition, Chisel will become Canada's largest adult entertainment company.

The newly-formed media giant is anchored by Chisel.com (www.chisel.com), an AVN Adult Internet Award-winner for Best Gay Site, as well as Malepics.com, NinoBacci.com, GayLinks.com, GayWave.com, GayMale.com, and GayExplorer.com.

CEO Doug McClelland says the company has also signed a deal to distribute a new high-end feed which directrix Chi Chi LaRue is producing for release on Channel 1, and that they'll continue to offer small line of heterosexual adult Web sites such as BlueKitten.com (another AVN Internet Award-winner, for Best Design), Sizzle.com, AdultTV.com, SexInc.com, SexScans.com, AdultLinks.com, and RedLight.com.

The split-off was finalized March 17, says Sizzle marketing manager Kalan Milley. He adds the new company expects no head-butting with the Canadian government. "The government has stated that it will not intervene and censor the Internet," he says, "and it is this that will allow us to grow and become a well diversified special interest entertainment company."

Milley said that Chisel plans "strategic relationships" with its new European partners, allowing sites like GayExplorer.com, Sizzle.com, RedLight.com, and BlueKitten.com to "become the next big thing. Our… creative team will continue to grow as we reach for even higher levels of stylish and inventive adult entertainment, specialized travel, and general interest E-zines," he says.

Last fall, following a brief run-in with law enforcement over whether or not it was trucking in child porn, Starnet announced it would divest itself of its adult entertainment properties to concentrate exclusively on online gambling.
