VAN NUYS, Calif.—Evil Angel releases owner John Stagliano's vampire epic Voracious, previously trickled out as an episodic web serial on EvilAngel.com, in a complete, multi-disc box set this Thursday, September 27.
Shot in Budapest, Berlin and Los Angeles, the final picture clocks in at over six hours broken up across two discs, accompanied by a third disc full of behind the scenes footage and bonus content, as well as a music soundtrack CD and a 16-page booklet containing an episode guide and photos by Stagliano.
In an interesting marketing ploy, while the first nine episodes of Voracious were released online as mentioned above, the 10th installment completing what the box set bills as "The Entire First Season" debuts exclusively with the set.
“The vampire lore makes for good erotica,” Stagliano commented. “The incredible thing about vampire movies is that you can make up many of the rules about what vampires can and can’t do. These rules are fun to fantasize about, but the important thing for me is that we create emotionally believable scenes.”
Fans and critics have hailed the series. Blogger Marv Montag called it a “unique and masterful vision taunting the fine intersection of wicked eroticism, pleasure and pain.” Fleshbot’s Gram Ponante crowed, “As filthy as it is poignant and sexy as it is shocking.”
A host of Evil Angel directors and performers helped bring Stagliano’s vision to fruition. Said Stagliano, “Manuel Ferrara does a wonderful job in the lead, but Rocco [Siffredi] was amazing in a supporting role. The man who inspired it all and who plays the lead vampire is Omar Galanti in an almost superhuman performance.”
Stagliano stressed that a couple of starlets were instrumental: “This movie came together when I got Brooklyn Lee and Lea Lexis to co-write the scenes with me. Lea was my co-producer in Budapest.”
Describing some of the action in Voracious, the director who gained international notoriety as his alter ego "Buttman" said, “For sure there is lots of ass play, but this is not at all like a Buttman movie in terms of style. I wanted to do another feature film like Fashionistas.”
The well-appointed Voracious DVD set will include a variety of promotional assets to supplement the four different promotional posters recently sent to retailers and distributors around the world. Clients will have a choice of three different O-card outer sleeves.
