Sixth Asia Pacific MLS to Meet March 30-31 at the Conrad Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand

The sixth Asia Pacific Mobile Location Based Services conference will convene March 30 and 31 at the Conrad Hotel. The conference provides a platform for networking with key industry players from across the MLS value chain and to examine future strategies, business models, and challenges facing today’s mobile location services.

Juniper Research estimates that the total available market for mobile location-based services will grow from less than $1 billion at the end of 2006 to more than $8.5 billion by the end of 2010. The largest geographic market will be the Asia Pacific region, with Europe and North America second and third, respectively.

“Mobile Location Based Services (MLS) have promised much, but to date delivered little,” the London-based consultancy notes in a research report about the matter. “Now with network infrastructure and positioning technologies coming in to place in many parts of the world to deliver functionally richer and more attractive services, there are signs that MLS are about to deliver some of the promised benefits to both operators and end users.”

Key issues to be addressed at the conference include business opportunities, technology, marketing, and services. Presentations will focus on successful business models in Asia, analysis of user education and marketing initiatives, technology rationales and demonstrations, and the latest information about what services are being deplored where and why.
