Following their appearances in Chicago, Seymore Butts and Mari Possa will be arriving in New York City for a handful of media appearances, culminating in an in-store signing at the Virgin Megastore in Times Square on Election Day. Those who show up at Virgin with proof of having voted will receive a free Seymore Butts DVD.
“Of course I’m excited about doing our signing at the Virgin Megastore in Times Square,” Butts said, “but to me the most important part of it all is the fact that we’re giving away DVDs in exchange for election receipts, and to me that’s a great promotion. And we’re not determining who gets DVDs based on who they vote for. Obviously, we’d like them to vote for Kerry, but if they voted for Bush and come to get a free Seymore DVD… well, that’s a little telling, isn’t it?”
Though Butts and Mari Possa — who are both in the middle of taping the third season of Showtime’s reality series, Family Business — will be signing autographs on the eve of the presidential election, Butts isn’t concerned about competing with Bush and Kerry for New Yorkers’ attention.
Said Butts, “I think that anybody who is of the mindset to vote and to be able to take the time to get to a polling place, if that person is the type of person who would go to a signing, I think they’ll find the time to get to Virgin as well.”
