Newly formed adult production company Sex Z pictures announced today that it has signed two well-known porn directors - Roy Karch and Skye Blue - to 15-picture deals.
The company promises the new auteurs will provide only the highest quality in adult movies. "I wanted rock-solid directors and producers who had done this before to anchor my team," Sex Z Pictures head Bo Kenney said in a press release.
Karch is a member of both the AVN Hall of Fame and the XRCO Hall of Fame. The prolific director will continue to shoot for Adam and Eve, VCA and other companies, but he has high hopes for Sex Z Pictures. "We want to put out high-end features to compete with the big guys," Karch told AVNOnline.com. "We're putting out good, quality productions with good-quality casts... and they have a hall of fame director - me."
Karch has worked in the blue movie biz since the 1970s, and tells AVNOnline.com he directed the first-ever direct-to-video porn movie in 1979.
Skye Blue, an AVN Award-winning director, will bring her unique style to the mix as well, with her own line of videos.
Initial offerings from both directors are on store shelves now, including Karch's Trade Secrets and Deconstructing Ava (starring Ava Vincent) and Blue's Sex-Z Illustrated.
"My third one is coming out this week," Karch said. "It's called Starstuck and stars Brooke Alexander and Randy Spears. It's about a woman obsessed with a male porn star. Usually, you have the guy obsessed with the girl, but this is a little bit of a reverse take. I think the public will like it."
Other upcoming titles include Bikini Encounter, due on May 14, Bedford Wives with Shayla LaVeaux slated for a May release, and Phoenix Unleashed scheduled for June.
Sex Z Pictures is a DVD-only, features-based company, scheduled to put out two shows a month, one from each director. They've also promised to expand into the wall-to-wall and gonzo markets after a year.
