Sex Lines Cost British Business Millions: Research

British workers making an estimated 15,000 calls to sex and chat lines each hour cost British business millions a year, says a research study by BT Business. And the most likely workers to do it, the study says, were financial advisors, automobile dealers, and hotel workers.

The study showed 35 million such calls to premium-rate phone lines on the job were costing up to £1.50 per minute, adding up to an estimated £25 million, according to Ananova.com

London, Birmingham, Chelmsford, and Leicester workers were most likely to call these sex and chat line, while Norwich, Wrexham, Milton Keynes, and Sheffield workers were the least likely, the study added.

"For many companies, the amount of premium rate calls can cause an unexpected shock when the phone bill arrives," said BT Business managing director Craig Rowland to Ananova., showing a need for business to tighten up control on its telephone use.
