PORN VALLEY — After a late-night consultation between Marilyn Chambers' attorney, Peggy McGinn, and Marilyn's daughter, McKenna Taylor, and other relatives, it was decided that the public memorial service for the late actress will be held on Wednesday, April 22 — which would have been the star's 57th birthday.
"We're planning two services," McGinn told AVN. "One is very private for the family and the people that knew her, close friends, and we are asking everyone to respect that privacy. The other one is going to be a public one. McKenna insisted that it be at the beach, while there is a captain out at the beach. Spreading her [Marilyn's] ashes will be done in the backgroundwhile the service is being performed."
However, the exact location and time of the service are still to be determined, largely because of California's public permit laws.
"There are some permit issues about putting her ashes out there," McGinn said, "and we're going to have to look into that, and it's going to take a couple of days. I don't want people worrying or not waiting."
"We're thinking Zuma Beach, but we have to check with the Coast Guard, and I think the funeral director will be able to help us," she continued. "We understand it requires a permit. Even if we do it on a public beach and there's no ashes, if more than 50 people assemble in the state of California for one particular reason, even if you call 10 friends and I call ten friends and they call ten friends for a luau, if it's for one purpose, you need a permit. We need to research that a little bit more."
McGinn said that the exact place and time will be announced on Monday.

Marilyn also left two cats that are in need of adoption.
"Marilyn was an animal fanatic," McGinn explained. "My sister is doing a website or something about that right now. Now, McKenna was adamant - in fact, the only time she became extremely upset was when she said, 'if my mom would die and those cats would have to go to a shelter.' There's no way I can let animal control have those cats."
