Sept. 30 is Deadline for AVN Awards Consideration

AVN is reminding all adult studios that to be considered for AVN Awards nominations this year, their productions must be released by Sept. 30. By that date, a title must be in the hands of a minimum of 10 wholesale distributors or 100 retail outlets.

The magazine also announced two new Awards categories — Best Animated Release and Best POV Sex Scene. “With so many good-quality, sexually-oriented animated releases and POV sex scenes, we decided to honor them with their own Award categories,” said AVN President Paul Fishbein.

A complete list of Awards categories follows this article.

To be considered for a 2007 Awards Show nomination, a production must have been released between Oct. 1, 2005 and Sept. 30, 2006.

The 24th Annual AVN Awards show will be held Jan. 13, 2007 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

AVN is also reminding producers that Sept. 30 is the deadline for them to provide AVN with their lists of pre-nominations — productions, scenes, performers, box covers and marketing campaigns they want considered for Awards nominations — and accompanying screeners.

Like the past two years, producers are required to enter their pre-noms themselves on AVN’s pre-noms Website, avnawards.com/nominations. Each producer will receive their own password and user name to access the site, which is scheduled to go live Sept. 1 and remain live through Oct. 4. AVN will no longer accept producer pre-nom lists in hard copy or via e-mail or fax. To receive passwords starting Sept. 1, producers must contact AVN Screeners Editor Leslie Limerick at [email protected] or 818.718.5788, x142. Passwords will not be given out prior to Sept. 1.

AVN Editor in Chief Mike Ramone urged producers to be judicious in their pre-noms, submitting only those productions and scenes they strongly believe have a chance at being nominated, as opposed to submitting all titles released during the qualifying period, as some companies have done in the past. He noted that production companies must supply AVN with all required information in their pre-noms, including the names of all performers in sex scenes and the names of all behind-the-camera talent in the technical categories such as editing, videography, music and others.

By Sept. 30, producers must provide AVN with two DVD copies of each title or scene they would like to be considered for nominations, as well as sample materials used in marketing campaigns if seeking consideration in those categories. The titles should be mailed or hand-delivered to:
