Sasha Grey Joins Cult-Horror Legends in 'Smash Cut'

TORONTO - AVN Female Performer of the Year Sasha Grey has joined the cast of Smash Cut, a Canadian slasher movie featuring several cult legends from the horror genre.

Among the names attached to the project are two stars known for their work in Wes Craven's early films: Last House on the Left villain David Hess and Hills Have Eyes icon Michael Berryman.

Also slated to appear in the movie are pioneering exploitation director Herschell Gordon Lewis and actor Ray Sager, who memorably played the title role in Lewis' 1970 classic The Wizard of Gore.

Directed by Lee Demarbre for Ottawa-based indie Zed Filmworks, the movie contains no nudity or sex. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Grey will remain fully clothed in the role of "a TV news personality who goes undercover as an actress in a horror film to discover the killer of her older sister, a stripper."

"The only penetration is by knives and axes," said Demarbre. [But will Hess ask Sasha to "piss her pants"? - Ed.]

Demarbre and producer Rob Menzies hope to release Smash Cut on the festival circuit before a planned theatrical run in 2009.

'Premiere' magazine writer Glenn Kenney recently leaked word that Grey was among the names on director Steven Soderbergh's "wish list" for the lead role in his upcoming feature The Girlfriend Experience. Grey told AVN she has not yet been approached about that project.
