The nation watched with grim attention yesterday as memorial services were held for Columbine High School teacher William Dave Sanders. Sanders was killed in the line of fire as he tried to usher students to rescue. One of Sanders' surviving daughters is Angela Sanders who has performed in the adult business. CBS's Dan Rather comments.
Rather: "As he lay dying, those students he saved dug into his wallet, pulled out pictures of his wife and daughters for him to see. It comforted him. 'Tell my girls,' he said, 'I love them.' Today, daughter Angela answered him."
Angela Sanders offered this in her eulogy:
Sanders: "You are the greatest daddy, husband, grandpa, teacher, coach, friend and mentor anyone could ever hope for. What you did in that school on Tuesday was an amazing act of heroism, all the way thinking of others instead of yourself. Just like always. P.S.: The girls and I would like you to know that we love you, too. And, because of you, there are a lot more kids that will make it. Goodbye, daddy. I love you."
