Same-Sex Couples: Redefining Family Law?

Three years after Vermont approved civil unions for same-sex couples, such couples are said to be experience evolving acceptance. Evolving, but not once-and-for-all?not yet.

Consider Donna Colley and Margaux Towne-Colley, says USA Today. They're a same-sex couple raising a son here. Their choice: Stay here, where they own a home, Colley has a thriving legal career, and they have close and good neighbors. And, never be legal parents together to Grayson's artificial-insemination son, Grayson.

Or, they could leave Nebraska and make a new life in any of a dozen states whose laws accept and recognize same-sex couples as parents. And the choice isn't just a matter of legal convenience: Grayson would not be entitled to benefits should Colley become disabled or die, USA Today says.
