Ron Hightower to Direct for DVSX

Ron Hightower, who has over 15 years of adult industry experience as a performer and director, has joined forces with DVSX to direct three different series.

Hightower will direct one video per month beginning with a yet-to-be-titled internal cumshot line set for release on May 24. He will also helm an interracial and an all-black line that will also be titled later.

Hightower, who has devoted a lot of his energy recently to directing hip-hop music videos, talked with DVSX co-owner Alex Ladd for the first time in about 15 years at the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in January.

"It was interesting because I didn't even know he had his own company," Hightower said. "We worked together for Gourmet Video back in the day. We started talking and it was a total connect.

"There's a lot of things I'm doing in mainstream, but I wanted to still stay on this side on the fence also. It felt good to be able to find a home that's really cool."

Ladd said the chance meeting with Hightower in Vegas was like some sort of "bizarre fate."

"We bumped into each other at the AVN Expo on Friday, and it was real nonchalant. Then I bumped into him again on Saturday, and it was like, 'this isn't a coincidence,' and we sat down and talked for a while. We've always been good friends," Ladd told AVN.com Tuesday. "He told me, 'I miss the biz, and I'm still doing music videos,' and we hammered out a really good deal."

DVSX co-owner Javier C. said Tuesday that Hightower will bring some fresh ideas and a bit of a "harder edge" to his growing company.

"And he seems like an all-around friendly, easy-to-work-with guy, so he'll fit right in with everybody here. We're like a big family," Javier C. told AVN.com. "And he knows we're looking to take things to another level this year.

Javier C. continued, "He definitely brings a lot of history with him as well with his knowledge of the industry and the way everybody works. A lot of people will trust him because he's been around. … Hopefully, he'll bring a little more excitement to it and get more people interested in our product."

Hightower said that he was discussing filming an internal line "back in 1991" long before the genre grew in popularity.

"Every said I was nuts," he joked.

His experience dates back to the late 1980s, when he performed regularly from 1988-94 and directed from 1992-96 before leaving the industry to pursue mainstream opportunities. Hightower came back in 2004 and recently did camerawork on Lil' Jon's upcoming movie for Vivid. He said he would begin production on his first DVSX video next week.

"He'll be doing one a month rotating around," Ladd said. "When he approached me, I asked him, 'What do you enjoy doing?' When we talked about him taking the internal line, he was really excited to get that. I'm really about the directors doing what they like."

Hightower joins a strong stable of shooters that already includes Guy Capo, K.K. and Ladd.

"It's an interesting change for us," Ladd continued. "People are now starting to come to us. We've come a long way. Now we've got A-list people knocking on our door.

"As long as he's happy, who knows where this will lead."
