CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Half-naked zombie girls surround a hilltop house, pounding on its plate glass windows and screaming for "more cum, more cum."
It's the climactic scene from Rodney Moore's horror spoof Night of the Giving Head, an unusual foray into story-driven movies from one of the kings of gonzo, the first feature he's made since in 1996.
Claire Dames, Samantha Sin (pictured with Moore) and Kylee Reese have the leading roles, with a large supporting cast that includes more than 25 extras, most of them topless.
Moore sits this one out as talent, having his hands full as director. Shooting at The Eagles Nest, high in the hills above Chatsworth, he skillfully marshaled his large cast and bigger than usual crew through two long weekend days.
"Yesterday," he told AVN, "I was alternating between, Oh, it's so gratifying to be shooting a feature, to Fuck this shit, I'm going back to gonzo." He laughed.
"Another pain in the ass," he said, was shooting softcore versions of the sex, since he'll be angling for a cable deal on this one, unlike his gonzo output. But despite the headaches it the shoot seemed to be on its way to wrapping on time and on budget-a big one for Rodnievision.
"Night of the Giving Head" was the subtitle of Vol. 10 of Moore's long-running series The Cumm Brothers. (On the set incidentally, as production assistant was Rodney's pal and former Cumm Bro Wolf Savage, retired from performing for eight years.)
He stole the title from himself when, instead of doing a sequel to last year's successful Vampires, a vignette movie, he opted to take on another horror genre. The idea was also to extend Moore's older male fan demographic to younger guys and couples.
In Moore's script, a hole in the ozone layer causes radiation that has a strange effect on men's semen. When a female gives head and swallows, the guy passes out and the girl turns into a "sperm zombie," doomed to an eternity of needing not blood but cum.
Also in the cast are Rucca Page, Veronica Rayne, Nikki Rhodes and Amber Rayne, with longtime Moore associate Caroline Pierce as the Zombie Queen. Christian plays the local sheriff, and the sperm donors are Jarod Diamond, Alan Stafford, Barry Scott, Jack Vegas, Chris Johnson, Scott Lyons, Mark Zane and Brad Hardy.
As the sun set on Sunday night, Moore showed a crowd of extras how to do the "zombie walk," dragging their feet as they climbed a hill to reach the house where Claire and Samantha are hiding. He briskly followed their demented stalking with his new Canon HD camera. His direction to "get in touch with your own personal zombie" seemed to be doing the trick-they looked like the real living-dead thing.
Production manager Steviee, Moore's assistant for eleven years, kept the cast happy and the production moving along. "I can't believe how smoothly it's going-so many talent and extras and no complaints or problems. Everybody seems to be having a good time." The girls, she thought, welcomed the challenge of doing something a little different, like getting into that realistic skin-peeling zombie makeup.
The movie has seven sex scenes, including a girl-girl with Dames and Reese and a group scene with Christian, Pierce, and 25 zombie girls. And yes, there is lots of giving head.
Moore plans to release Night of the Giving Head Sept. 29, through Rodnievision, distributed by Exquisite Multimedia.
