Rod Daily Reveals HIV+ Status Via Twitter

CHATSWORTH, Calif.—Rod Daily, the male performer who predominantly worked in gay videos and has been widely linked romantically to recently HIV-infected female performer Cameron Bay, took to Twitter Tuesday morning to reveal his own HIV-positive diagnosis.

In a series of tweets, Daily said the following:

"I have been locked out of my twitter for like 5 days. I didn't know you guys were waiting on me to post my results. ... Everyone that was in my circle was notified. ... So let me apologize for keeping you waiting when I was trying to figure out my life. When I was waiting for every last 1 of my results. I would like to say thank you to all my fans, followers, and supporters over the last 8 years that I have been apart [sic] of this industry. I always say you can't retire from porn because there is no 401k so I'm walking away. ... Drumroll please!! I'm 32 years old and I'm HIV positive. Acute HIV, which means I recently was infected. For that I am blessed."

Daily continued: "I'm blessed for the fact that I caught it so early ... with the tests I have done the doctors have figured out that I was infected within the last month. My antibodies just showed up on a test this week which is scary because they didn't a week ago. I have also learned that people can be so well medicated that they test negative. Scary, the test everyone relies on. ... That does not change anything though. A week later people are back at it shooting without condoms. ... It's been a crazy week, a crazy 2 weeks. When something like this happens you just have to accept it. I'm not down I'm not out. Had to pinch myself a few times no doubt. But the sun still shines on my face and its [sic] warm. Can't take my heart ever. I love life, blessed."

Bay herself, during an appearance Friday on Amber Lynn's XXX Porn Star Radio show, said that she too was diagnosed with acute HIV, indicating that she contracted the virus approximately one month ago. She also revealed that she learned of her HIV infection as a result of going in for a full-panel test following the recent hepatitis-C scare, because she had worked not long prior with Alex Gonz, the male performer rumored to have tested positive for hep-C earlier this summer.

Cameron Bay's last adult shoot was for the Kink.com sub-site Public Disgrace, and took place July 31. In regard to her own "first generation" contacts identified following her diagnosis, she tweeted this morning, "Anyone who could have been affected have been notified and [they] have done the necessary procedures to [make] sure they are healthy."
