Richard Lewis, recently named one of the top 50 stand-up comedians of all time by Comedy Central, will host the Video Software Dealers Association’s Awards Show from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, organizers of the convention announced.
VSDA’s Home Entertainment 2005, the annual confab for the home entertainment industry, will take place July 25-28 at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
“Richard Lewis as the host of our industry’s annual awards show will be one of the most anticipated highlights of the upcoming convention,” said VSDA President Bo Andersen. “It is a privilege to have one of the most gifted and renowned comedians of all time be a part of our event.”
From the comedy club circuit to television, books and film, Lewis has left a distinct mark on comedy and entertainment. The reigning “Prince of Pain” and former star of the hit TV series “Anything But Love” has the ability to connect with his audiences by shining light and humor on the dark side of every topic. Lewis can be seen on TV’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” playing one of Larry David’s closest friends and has recently guest-starred on “Alias,” “Seventh Heaven,” “2 ½ Men,” and “The Dead Zone.” He has also appeared over 50 times on “Late Night With David Letterman” and “The Tonight Show.”
Fans of Lewis’ are invited to see him in Image Entertainment’s Richard Lewis: Hell Trilogy. Two laugh-packed DVDs: Showtime’s I’m In Pain and the cable ACE Award-nominated specials “I’m Exhausted” and “I’m Doomed” will provide viewers with a triple dose of comedy. Richard Lewis: Hell Trilogy will be in stores Sept. 13.
VSDA presents annual Home Entertainment Awards in recognition of outstanding achievement in home video. Ballots sent to VSDA members determine award winners, titles that exhibit rental and sell-through success. Also presented are the Home Entertainment DVD Technical Awards honor DVD titles that have demonstrated the most innovative and entertaining features through the use of the latest DVD technology.
