Dimevision Vol. 1: That’s the Fun I Have, a music video DVD helmed and edited by Adult director David “Red Ezra” Lockard recently went to #1 on the Billboard Music DVD charts. U.S. sales debuts for the week ending May 7, as reported by Nielsen SoundScan, reports that the DVD sold 12,000 units, pushing it to #1. The DVD was released by Vinnie Paul Abbott's new record label, Big Vin Records.
Dimevision Vol. 1: That's the Fun I Have centers around “Dimebag” Darrel Abbot, former guitar player for multi-platinum heavy metal band Pantera, and most recently, Damageplan. Abbott was killed onstage December 8 of 2004 by a deranged fan, during a Damageplan concert in Columbus, Ohio.
"This is not a Pantera or Damageplan Home Video,” said Lockard. “It's about Dimebag Darrell Abbott. The DVD shows Dimebag how I knew him...fun-loving, insanely talented, big-hearted, creative, genuine, and driven for the fans. At times I couldn't watch the tapes but eventually I would come across something that would make me laugh and it fired me up…Dimebag and I worked together on a lot of music video projects.”
“It was un-imaginable to deal with the sudden loss of such a close friend. Slowly, months afterward, the momentum started to make a tribute DVD with the people closest to Dime: Vinnie Paul Abbott, Dime's brother and bandmate, Rita Haney, Dime's girlfriend, and Daryl ‘Bobby Tongs’ Arnberger, Dime's friend and assistant,” continued Lockard.
"This is a must see video for any Dimebag Darrell fan out there. I am very proud to have worked on this project and I am happy it is finally available to the fans to keep his spirit alive in all of us.”
