CHATSWORTH, Calif.—Messengers of Recovery MC, a motorcycle club whose members are all recovering addicts, is opening the doors of a clubhouse it owns to members of the adult industry community seeking addiction help. The group will hold support meetings at the clubhouse on the second and fourth Thursday of every month open to adult industry members only.
Industry vet Howard Levine, a Messengers of Recovery MC member, announced in a statement, "It has come to my attention that there is a need for some place to go for industry people who are in recovery or looking to get into recovery. I am seven years clean and sober. ... We have resources to help the addict or recovering addict. This is open to anyone in the adult industry—actors, actresses, production people, directors, makeup, etc.
"These are speaking meetings, then a time for you to share," Levine continued. "The meetings are free. They are one hour long. The location is confidential and what is said in these meetings stays in these meetings. So if you are in the industry and you are having problems with drugs or alcohol and would like some help, there is now a place to go."
Levine said those interested in attending a meeting should call him directly at (818) 576-9464. All calls will be kept completely confidential, and the location and time of the meetings will be given to callers over the phone.
