While this is not necessarily always a bad thing in certain situations, the point being missed is that Ross, whose other interests includes the businesses of baseball cards, comic books, etc., has zeroed in on the cabaret segment of the adult industry and I heartily applaud whatever success he has achieved in that arena.
"However, as we all know, the adult business is comprised of many other enterprises with video, indeed, being a principal player followed in no particular order by dvds, Internet, retail stores, phone sex, etc. There are certainly enough challenges facing us all to go around - and then some - and in this age of specialization, I think Ross' attention to the cabaret business is great, leaving the FSC to concentrate on other market segments and their equally important problems. His observation that we are competing could not be farther from the truth and the "rift" referred to, with all due respect, was entirely generated by Ross, whose inability to gallantly accept his dismissal as lobbyist from the FSC, chose instead to go on a thumb-your-nose offensive.
"Insofar as Ross 'getting all the publicity,' I might not-so humbly remind you that in the recent past it was the FSC (both Jeffrey Douglas and myself) who was invited to appear on Court TV (regarding the Flynt/Cincinnati case), on "Rivera Live" concerning unauthorized Internet images and in early October, we have both been asked to speak before the rather lofty National Press Club in Washington, DC. The only publicity I see on Ross' behalf is either here or on Luke Ford's site."
Tussling With Tawni Part 2: Jeff Quandt Comments on Tawni Lyons
Seeing as how he opened the can of worms in the first place with an email which he sent Monday, Jeff Quandt who has an amateur video company, QLS, responds to comments Tawni Lyons made yesterday regarding his email about her. Quandt originally wrote that Lyons "ripped her former partner off 3 grand, and now she is doing me to $900." Quandt said at the time Lyons called the cops on him when all he wanted to do was ask her how she planned on paying it back to him. Quandt says Lyons had been doing custom videos for him. Quandt also says Lyons has threatened him with bikers in retaliation for his calls. Lyons, on the other hand claims Quandt has been phone stalking her.
Lyons: "He's been verbally abusing me so bad, it's unreal. I had to call the police on the sonofabitch. I never fucked the guy. I don't even like the guy. He's threatened me and physically harmed me before. The cops knew he was a stalker because while I was on the phone with the police, he [Quandt] wouldn't quit calling my cell phone. The police said they were quite familiar with this guy. He's been threatening to call my mother. He's been threatening me. He's threatened my friends. The guy tells me he's in love with me, and I can't even stand to look at him."
Lyons, who was allegedly living with Quandt for several months, also claims that Quandt roughed her up before she came out to California on her last trip in June. She said she had to cover her bruises and make up stories.
Quandt had this to say in an interview.
Quandt: "I'm not stalking her. I've never stalked anyone in my life. I live in a small town, and I went to high school with probably four of the cops that are on the force. That's no problem. Put it this way, I was hot when I shot that email off to you."
Quandt also claims that Lyons has been using both Dirty Bob and Gene Ross as leverage against those who would criticize her in the industry.
Quandt: "Several times if things don't go her way, she'd threaten to call you or Dirty Bob. I don't know where she was coming off on that. She's calling me a verbal abuser? I put up with her stuff for 3 1/2 months. She's repeatedly lied to me. I set up all these shoots [custom videos] for her to do. I paid her money up front for them. I've got all these customers calling me. Now I got to give refunds back to my customers."
[Quandt requires his customers to pay in advance for customs.]
"I was trying to give her some stability in her life," Quandt continues. "Her ex-partner [David, Lyons' roommate] dumps her up here, and her friend Denise leaves her stranded here. I'm not trying to blow myself up as a good guy, but all I tried to do was give her some security and stability."
Quandt, in the video business since 1994, says he met Lyons at the beginning of June through Dirty Bob. According to Quandt, who lives about an hour east of St. Louis, Bob told him that Lyons was in the midwest and wanted to shoot. Quandt brought her in to do customs. Lyons wound up living with Quandt after an alleged fallout with her Dallas roommate David over truck keys and other somesuch. Quandt said he started hawking a lot of custom video work on behalf of Lyons to keep her going in between trips to California. Quandt says Lyons lived with him up until prior to Labor Day when she went to Wisconsin, presumably for a long weekend. The agreement was, when Lyons returned from her Labor Day jaunt, she'd complete other custom orders. She never came back. Lyons says she was too scared to, but Quandt says the excuse Lyons offered about not returning was that she was on pain medication. Then he found out she was dancing. According to Quandt, Lyons finally told him she took the trip to Wisconsin to dance so she could make additional money to go to Tampa for the Award Show. Quandt says Lyons constantly stressed over the show creating other problems between them.
[During her stay in Milwaukee, Lyons was patronizing a tavern involved in a drive-by shooting which was reported on this site.]
"I worked my butt off for her, I really did," Quandt says in retrospect.
Quandt, despite what Lyons claims, says he's paid Lyons in full for all the previous work she did for him and that she's the one who owes him about $3,000 for rent and utilities.
"She also left her cat here," he says. And, despite Lyons' comments to the contrary, Quandt says he has model releases for all the work she did for him. Quandt says he would have worked a business deal with Lyons where she'd get half of income coming in, but everytime he wanted to get something in writing, she'd renege. He said he wanted to see some commitment from Lyons. "We had the potential to make a lot of money," he said. Quandt said just over one two week period, he generated nearly $4500 for Lyons. On another occassion, after she assured him that she was committed to doing the custom work, Quandt claims he discovered that Lyons was emailing the Bunny Ranch soliciting work. He says when he confronted her about that, she went ballistic.
Quandt also says that Lyons is lying about his roughing her up but he does admit grabbing her once out of frustration. Quandt says what Lyons construes as phone stalking was a call he made to her telling her their arrangement wasn't working out, that it was over. "She went ballistic on me," he recalls. "The only time I ever went ballistic on her was taking her stuff for so long. I've worked with a lot of girls, I've done close to 100 titles, and I've never treated anyone of them bad." Quandt says it was Lyons who was making the incessant phone calls. Quandt recalls telling Lyons in a phone message, 'We're both not in a very good mood to talk, when you feel like you're up for talking give me a call and we'll talk about this.' "
Quandt also claims he paid for Lyons' domain name and was going to have a website completed for her upon her return from Wisconsin. He says he also wired her money for gas. Quandt also claims he wired Lyons money on another occasion to get Kid Vegas back to LA at the time Lyons had taken off on a road trip with Vegas. "I got tired of her games, and that's why I ended it," Quandt adds. "I've got a business to look after." Quandt says he'll "eat the experience" and move on.
Pistol Comments On Pussy Crimes
Arrow's Ray Pistol said a deal with Apocalypse Productions to release Pussy Crimes is not written in stone, though he'd gladly handle the title.
Evil Angel which handled the company's first title, Anal Ball, took a pass for a number of reasons. According to Jeff Marton of Evil Angel, "John [Stagliano] took a look at it and was very unhappy with it. He loved Anal Ball. They had a lot of problems with Pussy Crimes. A couple of camera masters were stolen. The guy they had editing it, really fucked up and they had to go back and get it re-edited. They used a lot of the same people they used in the first one which was a turnoff to John. All I heard was that John said it ain't good enough for us. We're not going to put out something that's not up to our standards. I've heard other people say the movie ain't that bad. But John's the last word.
"We still have Anal Ball which we're selling for them [Apocalypse]," Marton continued. "Hopefully their next movie's going to be real good, John will look at it and say, yes, I want to sell it. There's no personality conflicts or anything like that. It's just that the master they brought in, sucked. I like those guys. John likes them, but he didn't like the second movie they put out. Now he's real gun shy."
Marton said yesterday he hadn't watched the feature so he couldn't give a personal opinion one way or another. Pistol, however, did have one, having seen the feature.
"He's [Tom Zupko] getting offers and wants to look them over," Pistol said. "I said go ahead. It's no big thing. There's no official, 'yes we are,' but there should be a decision on it pretty quickly. He's got a street date coming up. Basically the guys and I go way, way back.
"Every individual that looks at it is going to look at it differently," Pistol further commented. "I thought it was a better done movie. Some of the cast crossed over, but I think that's going to be the case because every company has its hardcore group of people that it uses to add the flavor to a given thing. It didn't have any ice cubes popping out of an ass, but it had some real good anal in it. It has a new girl in it, Bailey Montaine, and she is hot. It has a wild food fight scene as the last scene between Tyce Bune and Caroline Pierce that I really consider outstanding. If Tom chooses, I'd be more than happy to put that movie out there. Republican Lobby Supports Same-Sex Marriages - Money Raised Will Be Used To Help Defeat California's Anti-Same Sex Marriage Initiative

Furor over Porno
Yo, what's the first rule of mail order? You don't send adult tapes to a post office box in Ponca City, Oklahoma. At least in this case. But they were, and water apparently being under the bridge, the discovery of two adult video tapes in a trash bin on Noble County high school property has led to a welter of legal confusion. One teacher has been fired on grounds of moral turpitude. One has resigned, and the school prinicipal is suing the fired teacher for slander.
It all started when rumors began surfacing that principal Randy Robinson bought pornographic videotapes and discarded their boxes in school trash bins. One girl supposedly quit the high school softball team Robinson coached, and students and teachers treated him differently, said Robinson during the first day of a district court appeal filed by Owen Hawzipta, an art teacher who was fired.
Hawzipta was fired July 13 on grounds of moral turpitude because he admitted he told other teachers he had heard that Robinson bought adult videos from a New Jersey company, Back Room Services Direct. Hawzipta said he called the company and a clerk allegedly told him an invoice found in the school's trash bin was from a customer named Randy Robinson.
According to a story in The Oklahoman, a representative from Back Room Services Direct, signed a sworn statement saying it has no customers named Robinson in Oklahoma.
School officials said Hawzipta wanted to get back at Robinson because the principal had admonished him months earlier.
Students in Hawzipta's class in April found a box with two video cover boxes, a sexually explicit catalog and an invoice with a corner ripped off in a school trash bin. The missing corner apparently had the customer's name.
School Superintendent Steve Shiever said he began an investigation after Hawzipta told him Robinson bought the tapes. But on May 24, Phil Stidham, an elementary school principal, told Shiever he, not Robinson, ordered the videotapes and dumped the boxes in the school's trash.
Robinson found out a short time later. However, neither Robinson nor school officials made any public statement until Stidham told school board members in July that he bought the tapes. Stidham was placed on paid suspension.
Hawzipta's lawyer said he was baffled why Robinson did not try to clear his name until Stidham came forward seven weeks later. Robinson said it was his ethics that told him to handle it as he did. Stidham resigned in August, although he will continue working on school projects but not at the school until Dec. 31.
Hawzipta's lawyer questioned superintendent Shiever why more serious action wasn't taken against Stidham. Shiever replied that Stidham broke no state laws or school regulations.
It was learned that both Robinson and Stidham live in houses that are on school property. They use the school's trash containers for their personal use.
During the hearing, Stidham said he bought the videos and that Robinson had no part in ordering or buying them. Stidham said he tore off a corner of the invoice because it would be embarrassing if people found out he bought the videos. Stidham said he ordered the materials from his home and had them mailed to a Ponca City post office box.
Shiever said he found the covers of the video boxes distasteful. However, he said Stidham did not order the tapes while at the school, nor did he bring them to any school building and what he does in his own home is his personal business.
Hawzipta's attorney said said he found it odd that Hawzipta was fired for making comments he believed were true, and that no disciplinary action was taken against Stidham. If Stidham hadn't discarded the video boxes in the school trash, none of this would have happened, the lawyer argued.
Hawzipta is expected to testify. Robinson, meanwhile, is suing Hawzipta for spreading slanderous and false statements about him. Steve Shiever: He says elementary school principal broke no laws.
