Russ Katz, a former sales manager and buyer with General Video Mid-Atlantic, has formed his own company, RSK Distributors, Inc. in Baltimore, MD. RSK, which opened April 1, four months after Mid-Atlantic folded, has effectively replaced Mid-Atlantic as the area’s major adult wholesaler.
Katz left Mid-Atlantic after eight and a half years in September, 2000, to take a job selling engineering tools. “It wasn’t quite as exciting as the adult,” he says. “Going from talking about sex every day to talking about circuit boards just didn’t cut it.”
When he learned that Mid-Atlantic was likely to fold, he decided to try to fill the gap. “We’re taking care of customers that used to deal with Mid-Atlantic on the East Coast and hopefully we’ll pick up new customers as well. The biggest difference is that now I’m not really limited to where I can sell.”
RSK is the exclusive East Coast distributor for Fleshcards, a line of Lenticular photo card collectibles from MaXiMotion (The cards were reviewed in the October 2003 AVN). “Eventually,” says Katz, “I hope to have my own line of videos, from a manufacturing standpoint, as well as having some exclusive distribution of certain lines.”
