Want to get rich quick online? According to Wireless Flash, all you have to do is create and register a raunchy Web domain, especially one that insults a corporation.
A New York-based Net registry specialist calling herself only Emily tells the news service raunchy domain names make big dollars for some people. She says some entrepreneurs register the insulting addresses hoping embarrassed companies buy them back at inflated prices to keep them from being used.
She has, in fact, heard of one corporation who ponied up $150,000 for a Web address that demeaned and insulted the corporate name, says Wireless Flash.
On the other hand, Emily says, some companies do fight back. A growing number are registering every possible insulting name to keep them out of the truly insulting hands.
