Pure Play, Simon Wolf Have Distribution Deal

Pure Play Media and Simon Wolf Productions have a new deal for Pure Play to handle Wolf's distribution, with the first Wolf title under the new deal, Young Pink Volume 6, due to hit the street July 7.

“Pure Play is about adding the top quality product, and Simon Wolf is doing very well,” said Pure Play chief executive Richard Arnold announcing the deal, which was signed this month. “We have a good relationship with them, so we decided to further that. They have 100 titles in their catalog – which adds to our company’s offerings – they have great presence, they’re embraced by both online and traditional retailers, and we feel this will be a great fit.”

This should also let Simon Wolf continue focusing on making episodic and feature titles alike, cutting back the volume to ensure quality control, Arnold said. “We lessened the releases because they were doing eight per month, so we lowered it to four in order to keep it fresh and keep the quality in place.”

The Young Pink line, Arnold added, gives Pure Play an element they didn't yet have in their array – the young girl approach. "A lot of their product is in that young girl gonzo style," he said of Simon Wolf, "so it fits perfectly in our catalog. Plus Simon Wolf makes the odd feature here and there, and those are extremely well made.”

"(Richard) felt Simon's catalogue greatly complemented the catolog Pure Play has in terms of what we can offer," said publicity representative Carly Milne. "He had the tremendous amount of respect for the company, and they've always had a great working relationship, and it just so happens that now they're able to further that.

It also takes the burden of handling its own distribution off Simon Wolf's shoulders, though Simon Wolf's Jason Elliott will handle distribution until the transition to Pure Play distribution is complete.
