Production Manager Mark Bayardo Passes Away

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Adult production manager Mark Bayardo passed away on March 4. He was 23.

Bayardo, who most recently worked for Vouyer Media, had been undergoing kidney dialysis treatment for much of the past year. He was hospitalized for kidney failure a year ago after receiving a transplant when he was 19. He had several complications from the treatment the week before he died.

The Sylmar, Calif., native got his start in adult in 2004, when he worked in the warehouse for Platinum X for about a year. Former Vouyer Media director Donnie Cabo helped Bayardo land at the company in the fall of 2006. He helped owner/director Vince Vouyer as a production assistant and production manager along with other odd jobs until his medical condition prevented him from continuing to work in 2008.

"He was in and out of the hospital all the time and on dialysis three days a week for at least the last year," said Cabo, who became friends with Bayardo seven years ago at their job at Aquarium City in Canoga Park. "He was a good guy. He was always a fan of porn. He liked the industry and wanted to be a part of it.

"He had a great personality. He was really outgoing and funny. As far as the business goes, he had a lot of love for it."

Cabo said over 80 friends and family members attended Bayardo's memorial service Thursday at Mission Hills Mortuary. Bayardo is survived by his parents and his 6-year-old daughter, Nichole.

"Mark got along with everybody," said Vince Vouyer. "He was a good worker. It's so wrong when someone that young goes. He never had a chance."

Vouyer added, "He's going to be missed. A lot of people liked him. A lot of people knew him. My hearts goes out to his family."

The Bayardo family asked that any contributions in lieu of flowers be made to his mother: Beatrice Bayardo, 14344 Foothill Blvd. #405, Sylmar, CA 91342.
