Private Employs The Use Of Slim DVD Case For All New DVD Releases

Based on the positive feedback retailers and distributors offered on the release of Cleopatra 2: The Legend Of Eros in the new Glider case, a slimmed down jewel case, Private has decided to package all new releases using a slim 7mm case instead of the standard DVD case.

The slim case is easier to stock as two slim cases equal the size of one standard DVD case, therefore doubling the storage capacity and shelf space for the retailer. The lighter weight of the case means that mail order and Internet retailers save on mailing costs for their customers.

"The entire supply-chain profits from the slim case size: transport space and the storage capacity in warehouses and shops are doubled," Williams said. "Retailers and video shops can display twice as many titles in the same space. And last but not least, the consumer experiences the slim format and light weight as a welcome alternative."

According to Private sales associate John Florian, the slim case has been a hit with his customers, both retailers and distributors.

"Reports I've been getting back are that the smaller size of case gives everyone a lot more shelf space, and they're getting a break in mailing costs for those who have to ship orders to customers," said Florian. "It's pretty much a good thing for everyone in every step of the retail

process."

Private first employed the use of the Glider case with the release of Cleopatra 2: The Legend Of Eros in March.
