The new service, which is powered by the DivX Open Video System, enables broadband users to download full-motion, full-screen, DVD-quality Private titles quickly and easily. rnrn

One key feature that DivX offers is Divx SmartStart, a progressive download feature which allows users to begin viewing films before downloads are completed, offering the convenience of streaming at a much higher quality level.rnrn
The DivX Open Video System, an end-to-end solution for the secure, profitable delivery of high quality VOD, utilizes a complete delivery management infrastructure and a proprietary digital rights management solution to ensure security. DivX video compression technology can reduce a DVD video to almost 10 percent of its original size with no loss in quality. rnrn
"DivX is basically the backend technology provider. We provide the video compression and the DRM and the complete distribution software that our content providers can just plug in to their site," DivX Networks Public Relations Manager Tom Huntington told AVN.com.rnrn
"We have a number of content providers, some of them adult, and some of them not. But the adult guys are doing really well," added Huntington.rnrn
DivX technology, which requires a proprietary player, has been downloaded and used by over 75 million people around the world.rnrn
Private has plenty of experience with the DivX technology - they currently have 157 titles available in that format on Gamelink.com.rnrn
PrivateSpeed, the broadband site, is not yet compatible with the Macintosh OS.
