Prestigious Intellectual Property Guns Join Adult Against Acacia

When HomegrownVideo.com decided they weren't going to take Acacia Research's patent-infringement litigation against adult entertainment companies lying down, they didn't just get mad - they and several adult Web operators convinced long-prestigious intellectual property law firm Fish and Richardson to take the defense. And they're planning to take it to Acacia, with a first shot expected by an April 15 court deadline, to answer Acacia's claims that Homegrown and other adult sites infringed upon their Digital Media Technology patent group.

So why would Fish and Richardson - whose identity Homegrown didn't want revealed too early, as we reported to you in February, and whose existence traces to the earliest days of electricity and powered flight - agree to take up a patent-infringement defense on behalf of adult entertainment? " It's not about the business or the content, it's about the patents and the merits of the case," says Fish & Richardson attorney Gregory Madera to Forbes. "We intend to put on a very vigorous defense."
