Beginning in 1983, Claudio Mattei became the first company in Italy to both produce hardcore sex films and import American porn. After moving to Prague in 1993 with wife Ivana, he continued his role as an important European producer, but became the Jim South of the Czech Republic.\n Like World Modeling, Mattei's Bohem Productions provides much of the talent for adult shoots in Eastern Europe. The company acquires performers for films, photo shoots as well as talent for their own Czech-made tapes.\n "When I started in the Czech Republic, I started with German movies," Mattei relates. "Then I imported movies from all over- America, France, Italy. There was a hole in the market that I filled."\n A ten-year friend of Rocco Siffredi, Mattei says he gave the Italian legend the idea for his popular Prague By Night productions (Evil Angel) and provided the hot girls that performed in the tapes.\n The company has over 200 girls under contract, with 120 currently working. The agency works on an upstairs fourth floor in a building in Prague, with the distribution on the bottom floor. \n "We've provided the girls for Christoph Clark and his Gaia line (Private)," Ivana Mattei says. "Lots of girls for Private, Anabolic, Video Marc Dorcel and others." New sensation Sylvia Saint came from Bohem Productions.\n The company also began a festival in Prague in 1995, which last year drew over 40,000 people in three days. A bit like the Consumer Electronics Show, various exhibitors sell merchandise directly to retailers and consumers and girls sign autographs and perform sexy acts during the show. An awards banquet is included in the package and this year's festival runs December 4th and 5th.\n Claudio Mattei also reports that he's in negotiations to acquire the Wicked Pictures line for distribution in the Czech Republic. That deal is being handled by legendary industry director and Hall-of-Famer Richard Mailer, now based in Prague.
