Portland Adult Store: ''Like A Drink to a Drunk''

A sex therapist with an office 10 feet away from a new lingerie store is attempting to rally local businesses to force the newcomer out.rnrn

"It's like when an alcoholic falls off the wagon - it starts with opening the bottle for the first drink,," Steven DeLugach told the Portland Tribune. His clients walk past the lingerie store on their way to his office. rnrn

Portland does not have an established adult entertainment district, so each adult business is treated like any other business. DeLugach does not want to wait to challenge the legitimacy of Velvet Dreams at the state Supreme Court level, so he is gathering signatures from area residents and businesses.rnrn

But the owner of the tidy Velvet Dreams, Ruby Washington, says she is there to stay.rnrn

"I have a right to run a business that is legal, legitimate and profitable," she said.rnrn

In addition to viewing live lingerie modeling, Velvet Dreams' customers can purchase strip teases. Washington plans to open the front room of the store for the sale of adult novelties and magazines.rnrn
