Pornsaints to Exhibit in London

LONDON — Porn-inspired art group Pornsaints exhibits a collection of its works throughout the month of October at London's A&D Gallery, with a special evening with the artists scheduled from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, October 9.

Founded by artist Francesco D'Isa, Pornsaints is made up of artisans from around the world working in an array of mediums ranging from digital video to oil and canvas. Porn stars featured in Pornsaints pieces have included Madison Young, Kylie Ireland, Stoya, Sasha Grey, Kimberly Kane, Charlotte Stokely and Katsuni.

Artwork created by Pornsaints contributors is based upon the tenet that porn stars may be "sanctified" by their performances. The group has already held two successful exhibitions in Philadelphia and Berlin, and will be displaying the works of 11 artists in the London exhibit.

One of those artists, New York-based Katelan Foisy, said of Pornsaints' objective, "I was intrigued by the duality of the project. I like the idea of combining something considered filthy with something beautiful."

Added Daniel Brant of the A&D Gallery, "These are exceptional artists who work in many genres but have embraced Francesco's project, and we in turn embrace his criteria: 'Everything classy is welcome at Pornsaints — vulgarity included.'"

In addition to D'Isa and Foisy, the artists exhibiting at the Pornsaints London show are: Arisu, Ida Belogi, Joshua Bronaugh, Molly Crabapple, Jonathan Edward Luczycki, Danny Malboeuf, Karen Preston, Nathalie Winans and Sander Steins.

The show runs from September 29 to October 31. For more information, visit www.pornsaints.org.
