Porn Interrupts Arizona News Broadcast

Some Arizona residents were surprised when hardcore pornography interrupted a news broadcast on a Phoenix-area television station.

According to an Associated Press report, the incident on KPPX-TV Monday night prompted a flood of calls to local news media outlets and cable provider Cox Communications.

"Maybe five or 10 minutes into the show there was no volume," resident Brenda Schodt told the Associated Press. "I thought it was the TV, but when I looked up, there were these images."

Although the cause of the images isn’t entirely clear, Cox spokeswoman Andrea Katsenes told the AP that the unexpected clips were a "source issue" with the broadcaster. KPPX operator, ION Media, called the problem "an act of human sabotage" at its station.

"We have launched a rigorous investigation, and any implicated employees will face strict disciplinary action and termination," ION Media Networks spokeswoman Leslie Monreal told the AP in a prepared statement.
