Porn Documentary Premieres in Montreal

MONTREAL - German director Jens Hoffmann takes an in-depth look at the adult industry in the feature-length documentary 9 to 5 Days in Porn, premiering Saturday at the Montreal World Film Festival.

The movie focuses on ten well-known adult industry personalities: Otto Bauer, Audrey Hollander, Sasha Grey, Sharon Mitchell, Mark Spiegler, Jim Powers, John Stagliano, Mia Rose, Roxy DeVille and Katja Kassin.

Hoffman spent more than a year shooting the documentary in an effort to show how working in porn affects the personal lives of performers, directors and others in the biz. Mostly filmed in the San Fernando Valley, the movie also includes scenes shot in Las Vegas at the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo and the AVN Awards in 2007 and 2008.

Hoffmann made 9 to 5 Days in Porn through his Munich-based company F24 Film, which produces commercials, industrial films and documentaries. The director's previous work includes the award-winning 2006 film Fatima's Hand.

"For F24, it was no risk getting involved in this popular but controversial topic," Hoffman said of the porno doc. "From the start, it was written in the mission to create documentaries that delivered authentic portraits, even at the risk of exploring problematic themes."

9 to 5 Days in Porn will screen at the Cinema Latin Quartier 16 Aug. 23 -26. Sasha Grey will attend the premiere Saturday night at 9.
