Plug Pulled on Colin Malone

Plug Pulled on Colin Malone

He hasn't been banned on Boston, his home town, but he's getting there. Dave Christopher was on the Colin Malone show last night which had the plug pulled on it by cable company TCI. Christopher was also part of a video shoot at photog Hans Rudelstein's house which got raided awhile back. Updates on both of these stories in the next posting. See 'ya then.

MADINla writes: "dear gene, please dont be offended, im e-mailing the same letter to luke ford. i used to read ur stuff regularly and it wud be informed, timely and very interesting. Lately, though it seems you take up half the days "stuff" focused on luke ford, except for a hardy few, i dont think the rest of us are reallt interested in ur fued with luke. Please go back to your old format and try to get off that luke thing. Thank you"

Gene sez: "I'm offended on two counts - that you would use the contraction "ur" for your and that you would think there was no point to the Luke Ford postings. Excuse me. How many celebrities or figures in the news do you know who get five hours-plus radio time in one day? Ford happened to be a newsmaker these past few days. I'm reporting about it. Case closed.

Mike Albo writes: "Just for your edification, the word I used to describe certain residents of Boyle Heights was "cholos," not "cellos." Since you're not a L.A. "homeboy" the error is understandable. Just so you know, "cholo" is caló slang for "a rude person." Cholismo manfests itself in a particular style of dress and certain attitude. A cello, on the other hand, is a musical instrument. Although the image of Luke being whacked senseless by a cello is certainly amusing. Not as amusing as his belief that I was going to offer him a job, but amusing nonetheless."

Gene sez: "Mike, thanks for the clarification because, what with this tinnitus, I could have sworn your original statement was, 'I love a guy who gets attacked by a cello in Moyle Heights.' "

Steve Neece writes: "Gene, Hope the Neece/Ford debate amused and enlightened you.I'm not sure what you meant when you said...."what happens when you stay up too late."? When WHO stays up too late?

"I sure brought a lot of things tumbling out of Lukes' psyche.'Witch burning was wrong and I don't approve.' I should hope not!!!! Is that a guilt reaction? Then he says fear and hatred of women is instinctive in the male gender. Is he merely repeating and explaining his own fears? But the cherry on the whipped cream sundae was when he started talking about the supposed sexual revolution that took place on Mt.Sinai!!!!

"It seems he thinks that without the ten commandments that men would all be boy lovers/forcible molesters and women would go unfulfilled and Western Civ would have died stillborn!!!

"Luke, civilization flourished in classical Greece where boy love was the sexual ideal! Homosexuality was pretty much accepted in all of the pre-Christian civilizations except for those governed by Judaism. Except for AVN even the so-called liberal porn world has yet to regain the level of tolerance towards male homosexuality that was enjoyed in ancient civilizations.Vivid seems to be the only straight company to have a Gay line.

"Coast to Coast and Catalina had the great bi films. There seems to be as much sexual intolerance in the porn world as there is in the straight world. There are a numbers of guys in the straight porn biz that, were they accused of analingus with a sow would exclaim "It was a female pig! I aint no fag!!! And besides,I was loaded/stoned/drunk!!" Guess I'll sign off for now."

Gene sez: "You illustrated my caveat precisely. The above kind of conversations are what you have when you stay up too late."

A stressed-out Tawny Lyons who was doing a "road tour" with Kid Vegas left several messages saying that she "had to take a break" away from Vegas. "I just wanted to warn you that Kid Psycho was heading back in your direction on Amtrak," Lyons said. "He's California's problem now. I'm taking a break. I'm going mental because of all of it. He's quite a stressful person - not a bad guy, just a little crazy. He does too many drugs. Hit me over the head real hard with a frying pan, won't you."

Oh, Baby, What Is Going On In Cincinnati?

Larry Flynt in May. One obscenity trial ended last week. Another begins August 23, and in the meantime, Cincinnati residents can content themselves with stories about kiddie porn. The latest one concerns a grand jury indictment this week of Timothy O'Conner, 54, after police seized kiddie porn images from O'Conner's computer. Police have voiced doubt that any neighborhood or local children are among those depicted in the images.

A grand jury in Warren County indicted O'Conner after a computer repairman there discovered the images on O'Conner's computer. O'Conner faces 21 charges: seven counts each of pandering obscenity involving a minor, pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material.

The images found on O'Conner's computer depict seven youngsters ages 7 to 10, engaged in sex acts, Warren County authorities said.

A Butler County grand jury is expected to consider whether to file an additional indictment against O'Conner. In a June 3 search of his home, Middletown police seized large quantities of suspected pornographic materials, including equipment that could be used to reproduce and distribute the images, police said.

But that's not all. Just last week a federal grand jury charged a Cincinnati man, Terry A. Herzog with sending 12 sexually explicit computer images of young boys across state lines from his Springfield Township home. Herzog's indictment came as a result of a federal kiddie porn sweep in 1995 known as the Innocent Images Project. The sting is still operational.

Grand jurors also charged Herzog with possession of files of similar pornographic computer images involving boys under age 18.

The 13-count indictment, handed up in Cincinnati said most of the pictures showed boys under 18 lasciviously displaying their genitals.

Remaining images involved underage boys engaged in sexual acts, grand jurors said. A spokesman for the U.S. attorney said, at the time, that Herzog, now 51, had not been arrested, that he will receive a summons through attorney H. Louis Sirkin. The spokesman would not say whether the boys were Tristate residents, nor would he say how many were pictured or what their ages were.

Herzog was indicted under kiddie porn laws that have a five-year statute of limitations. Grand jurors said the pornographic images were transmitted between Aug. 10 and Oct. 23, 1994, and the files were in Herzog's possession in September 1995, when his home was searched.

The delay in prosecuting him reflected agents' difficulty finding the images in Herzog's confiscated Power MacIntosh 8100 computer, an FBI spokeswoman said. Herzog's home was one of 125 searched nationally in September 1995 as part of the FBI's continuing "Innocent Images Project."

The indictment did not indicate why Herzog became a specific target, but those familiar with the probe suggested he transmitted the images involved in the indictment "to the wrong people." Whether recipients were federal agents or kiddie porn aficionados who cooperated with prosecutors was unclear.

Other cities where 1995 raids took place included Dayton, New York City, Dallas, Miami and Newark. People who posted child pornography pictures on the America Online computer service or repeatedly copied or downloaded the pictures were among those being served with the warrants, the Justice Department said then. Pornographic evidence collected elsewhere during the raids included pictures of children, ages 2-13, who were forced to pose in real and simulated sex acts with adults, animals and other children.

Nurses expanding sex links on Web: The New Miller Decision?

First reported on geneross.com, the husband-wife nursing team who were fired from their jobs with a Scotsdale, Arizona hospital because of doing an adult website, say they're going into the XXX business full time. George Miller says he's posted racy pictures of his wife, Tracy, on 250 free adult sites since the couple were suspended earlier this month by Scottsdale Memorial. Tracy Miller bills herself as "Dakota Rae" on the website, touchable.com.

Tracy Miller's pictures pictures contain a link to the Millers' Web site, where surfers are invited to become members who may view explicit sex for $14.95 a month.

Visitors to the Web site can see bare-chested photos of "Dakota Rae". More explicit pictures are shown only to members. George Miller, known on the site as "Dakota Rae's" husband, "Jack," appears in the members' section of the site engaged in sexual activity with his wife.

Hits on the site reportedly reached an all time high of 48,000 on July 29, the day the Millers appeared on the Howard Stern radio show. According to Miller, the number of paying members has hovered around 2,200 for the past three months.

"The one thing I can say about this is that one door has opened another door, and so on," George Miller said. "I never thought this would be this big." The Millers could make more than $100,000 a year, he said. The Millers said they started the Web site three months ago to make money for their children's college educations. They have an 11-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter. Miller said he and his wife explained the Web site and their job situation to their son, who took it in stride.

Miller, 33, said hospital officials told the couple they were being dismissed because they tried to recruit fellow employees to appear on the Web site. The couple denied it. The hospital termination notices say the Millers, who worked as on-call intensive care nurses, were being fired for violating hospital policy by harassing other staff members and "creating a hostile or offensive working environment."

"This is all lies," said Tracy Miller, 32. The Millers claim they earned $92,000 at the hospital last year, and that the Web site is now their sole source of income.

A hospital spokeswoman, declined to talk about the Millers' case because hospital policy forbids public discussions of a specific personnel issue. The Millers are appealing the hospital's action.

"They have made a huge mistake," Georg Millere said. "This battle has just started."

Besides the Stern show, the Millers are starting to make the media rounds. They have appeared in the past month on TV and radio shows, including CBS' Morning News, Court TV, Extra and Inside Edition.

The Millers will appear in an Aug. 24 Fox TV network show and have been approached by the TV news show 48 Hours, they said.

The Millers have even used their dismissal from the hospital to bring more members to their Web site. The opening page now says, "X-rated porno nurse fired." The site also has a special email link for reporters to contact the couple. George Miller said 150 hospital employees have become members of the site in the past month.

Lawrence Walters, a partner in the Florida law firm, Wasserman and Walters, which specializes in defending the owners of adult Internet sites said that he will be representing the Millers without charge.

"I have not charged them anything," Walters said. "I think what's ultimately going to happen is that they're probably going to set up a defense fund on the Internet and try to raise some money for their pursuing their claims and trying to get reinstated.

"The bottom line is this: It was an inappropriate, illegal termination," attorney Walters said. "The hospital fired them because they didn't like the Web site. It had nothing to do with their work.

"This is a precedent-setting case," Walters went on to say. "It's going to be important to set the limits on how far an employer can go in regulating what you can do in your off time." Asked how his firm got involved with the case, Walters said, 'I guess our firm was kind of a natural because we do First Amendment work all over the country. I have some specialty in sexual harassment in employment law. I was recommended by one of my other clients who was speaking to the Millers independently. They talked to us. They needed somebody right away and we jumped on it."

Walters said the Millers have an appeal hearing coming up next week. "I don't think the hospital's going to reinstate them," Walters said. "There's been a lot of pressure on the hospital from the media, and this hospital hates media. They settle all their malpractice claims real quick and try to keep everybody quiet. Maybe if there's enough pressure put on them, but I think we're going to have to go to court."

XXX Mags At Kum & Go Are Gone; Conservative Group Says It Will Target Other Chain Stores; "God is Awesome," They Say

A West Des Moines Iowa-based convenience chain with the unlikely name, Kum & Go, has decided to drop adult magazines from its 313 stores thanks to pressure put on them by a conservative citizens' group. Officials of Krause-Gentle Corp, the owner of Kum & Go declined comment, but clerks are saying say some stores have already pulled the materials. Kum & Go has stores in 12 states.

"They said that they will begin taking major steps to pull all titles from the stores beginning with the Des Moines market of approximately 35 stores and they have already begun that process," Chuck Hurley, president of the Iowa Family Policy Center, told the media.

Hurley said he was told by officials that it could take some time to remove all adult titles because of existing vendor contracts. Hurley said he and Kim Gordon of Concerned Women for America met last week with officials from Krause-Gentle Corp. about sexually-explicit magazines that were being sold in most Kum & Go stores. Hurley said Krause-Gentle attorney David Stork told him of the decision to pull the magazines.

Less than a month ago, a group met in Des Moines to organize a campaign against stores that sell explicit magazines or videos. Hurley said, however, that Kum & Go's decision was not based solely on that effort. "This was not the result of a sudden or knee-jerk reaction. It's something that they'd been talking about for years and years," Hurley said.

Davar Broeckert, who led a successful effort in April to get Kum & Go to pull explicit material from stores in his area, disagreed. "This decision was a direct result of the pressure being put on them," he said.

Broeckert said he was pleased with the chain's reported pledge to pull adult magazines from all its stores. "I never expected that Kum & Go would ever do that," Broeckert said. "God is awesome. He can do things that we don't even expect."

Broeckert said the group's campaign will now focus on other convenience-store chains that sell explicit magazines. "If they refuse to pull it out, we will have to take some other action by either picketing or boycotting."

Ben Stone, executive director of the Iowa Civil Liberties Union, said he worries that information can be limited if businesses are coerced to remove certain materials.

"It's troubling when decisions are made by companies that are based on political fear, rather than sound business judgments or their own sincerely held beliefs," Stone said.

If you hung in there long enough Saturday night, you might have caught this exchange between Steve Neece and Luke Ford on the Ed Powers show. Neece, a former professional wrestler, is a frequent contributor both to the Luke Ford and Gene Ross sites. The following is proof what happens when you stay up too late at night.

Neece to Ford: "I've posted on your site many times. It's interesting. You've brough up the Judaeo-Christian ethic in pornography. It is my opinion that the Judaeo-Christian ethic is responsible for most of the extreme pornography that you have - the misogyny of black hardcore, Jim Powers, etc. I believe that is all part of the Judaeo-Christian ethic at work.

Ford. "Right. Well, the people who subscribe to the Judaeo-Christian ethic and who practice it, do not make pornography."

Neece: "But they are playing to the Judaeo-Christian hatred of women and misogyny: tramp, whore, pig, etc."

Ford: "The status of women is the highest in the world where Judaism and Christianity has flourished. United States and Europe has provided the best opportunities for women anywhere in the world, so that's why I find your perspective interesting. I enjoy receiving emails from you, but I believe that the most dramatic sexual revolution that took place in history occured at Mt. Sinai 3200 years ago where God basically said that men should confine their sexuality to women, particularly to their wives. This enabled the rise in the status of women because, until this time, men would usually turn towards other males, particularly young boys, for the object of their eros. The Torah, the revelation at Mt. Sinai and the command that men should restrict themselves to women forced men to pay more attention to women, to provide and protect the woman that they choose for their wife, and really it made Western Civilization possible.

Neece: "I tend to disagree. The status of women in Roman times, the time of Christ, shall we say, was far higher, among free people, that is, as opposed to slaves, than it was under Christianity a thousand or 1500 years later when they were burning witched by the millions...then you have the prayer of the Orthodox Jewish man that thanks his maker everyday that he was not made a woman."

Ford: "Right. There is plenty that is troubling in the Jewish and Christian tradition along with every other tradition. I'd like to go on record saying I do not support the burning of witches. I am opposed to that. It's one of the dark spots in the western tradition. But still look at the societies that you would want to live in today - United States, western Europe, and these are societies that have been profoundly shaped by Christianity and these are the societies that have the biggest opportunities for women."

Neece: "Look at some of the porno filmmakers like Damiano whose films I thought reeked of Catholic guilt and hostility. I could name some others. Gregory Dark probably has tremendous Jewish-misogynistic hatred of women, even though he may be secular today, it was probably part of his upbringing."

Ford: "There is hatred of women in the Jewish and Christian traditions along with every tradition. I mean they're hateful and embarrassing. I genuinely think that fear of women is endemic to men. I think even entirely aside from religion that women are something fearful. They have a psychological sophistication and a rooting in reality that the men cannot have. We feel awkward often around women and there's so different. They think differently from us. I think this fear of women is almost innate to male culture rather than just being a byproduct of Judaism and.."

Neece: "I never felt afraid of women. I think one of the things men fear about women is that a woman has an almost unlimited capacity for orgasm and sexual enjoyment that a man does not have. This is biology."

Ford: "Woemn are significantly different from us, and people who are different from us can be intimidating and make us fear them. This is part of the reason that different societies often look with great distrust upon the other because the other is different. And this also plays into relations between men and women rather than just being a result of Judaism and Christianity. Which culture does not have within it a fear of women?"

Neece: "It would be hard to say. I'm not as anthropologically up as I should be. I know there are some who have less than others. But the three western religions being Judaism, Christianity and Islam seem to have the most, and the Hindus possibly following close behind."

Powers: "It's like lions, and tigers and bears...

Neece said he would rather live in a "more or less secular society such as Scandinavia."

At one point, Powers said he thought it was time to change the subject

Justin Hoffman of the Wayne Resnick Show writes back: "Dear Mr. Ross, On your site, you wrote the following: "My "off Broadway" comments were not meant as a put down of either Resnick or his show but a metaphor to suggest that Cambria and Ford, by going at it once, allowed themselves perspective, second-thought, some internal editing and sentence-polishing the second go-round.

'If I might make one final point, and I say this with all due respect, no one from your show went out of their way to alert the industry so people familiar with the subject could tune in. Then, again, that's where Powers enjoyed the advantage and took the full opportunity to establish a media alert. Bearing in mind, of course, this all pretty much happened at the last minute, so that might not be a totally fair observation.

Hoffman has this to add: "Thank you for your comments. After reading your response, I realized that I mistook your characterizations as a put down of our show. After your explanation of the 'off-Broadway' remark, I have come to better understand the point that you were trying to make. Therefore I apologize if my previous comments seemed heavy-handed.

"The show was indeed put together at the last minute which affected our ability to publicize our guests' appearances. It is also important to also point out however, that the Wayne Resnick Show does not deal exclusively with the sex industry but rather deals with a broader range of pop culture issues. As a result, we don't always travel in the same "media circles" as Powers (so-to-speak).

"Powers caters to a more specialized niche audience (of which your site and Luke Ford's are no doubt an important part of). Although we are trying to reach out to other audiences that might not be aware of our show, our regular contacts likely differ from Powers' (although I will certainly keep you in mind the next time we happen to address a subject that may hold interest for your site. Cordially, Justin Hoffman Producer - The Wayne Resnick Show"

Justin Money writes: "Hi - a long time reader of the site and a huge fan. Kudos to you and your great work in setting the record straight. thanks for all the reporting on LF and the weekend radio debates. hats off to Mr. Cambria and Mr. Fishbein as well! My best, Justin Money, Moneybros Productions

Case of the Missing Smoking Gunn

Have you seen or heard from Montana Gunn? An APB [an unofficial one, not police] has been put out for the blond porn star who may have been having a problem with a stalker. Dirty Bob says he's been trying to get a hold of Gunn through many different sources to confirm her appearance at the Tampa Award Show next month with no apparent success.

"We've had to pull her from the line-up," Dirty Bob said. "We can't get a hold of her to confirm her appearance. The actual show [Nightmoves Award Show] is Sept. 20. This is the seventh year we've done it." Bob said the stars come in to Tampa Thursday, Sept. 16 where they do promos, sign autographs, sell videos and generally promote the show at various bookstores. The awards show, itself, will be held at Club XS. "This is a good way to get a three or four day vacation, have some fun and make a few bucks," Dirty Bob said.

Gunn's disappearance is also of concern to David Aaron Clark who needs his pink slip. Not the termination pink slip, but the automobile variety. This is what DAC has to say:

"Yeah, it's irritating, to say the least. Back when I was at Extreme, my lovely salvaged '77 black Mercedes got ran into, and, having to commute all the way from downtown L.A. to Chatsworth every day for little Robert, I was in quick need of wheels. My pals at Apocalpyse said, hey, Montana's got this '85 Trans Am she needs to sell, it's a great car.

"I paid her $2500 in cash soon thereafter, and she said she'd get me the car in the next day or two, after she had the brakes fixed. Was I too trusting? Of course. It's one of my faults, believe it or not. Also, I had Tom & Brian assuring me everything was okay ...

"Anyway, it was over a week and a half later (during which time she drove the car down to Vegas and back) that I finally took possession, entirely thanks to Brian & Tom driving me over to her house and demanding the car. She claimed at the time the pink slip was at her mother's, and she'd get it that weekend. And oh, the windshield wipers stopped working on the trip to Vegas, and she didn't have a chance to get the brakes done. Also, as I looked at the registration, I realized the car was two years older than she had claimed ...

"Very next day, I'm on the 101, in the fast lane, and thanks to the inferior GM design, an electrical short causes the engine fan to stop working, and within literally two minutes (the time it took me to force my way over through heavy rush hour traffic and onto the off-ramp) the motor fried. Shazam! No choice but to have the motor replaced, to the tune of $2000.

"We won't talk about everything else wrong with these wheels, but to cut to the chase, that was four months ago, and Montana has not returned a single phone call of mine asking for the pink slip. Tom and Brian kept asking her for it, and she would stall and vacillate, claiming she would have it "that weekend." She also told them (but not me) that the motor frying thanks to an existing electrical problem she hadn't told me about wasn't her problem, and the car was really worth more than $2500 anyway, and I should really pay her more money.

"Suffice it to say, when Montana & Apocalypse parted ways in an unfriendly manner, I was left high and dry. Which is where I remain. The registration's still good until December, but not sure what I'll do then -- maybe blow it up for a movie. Unfortunately, though, not with its previous owner in it ...regards, DAC

"p.s.: BTW, "Poison Candy" finished shooting and goes into editing in about a week. It's a very unusual porn film, and marks a very nice acting turn by Annabel Chong in the lead role. The script, the first porn script I've written for myself that I spent the same time on that I would one of my novels or short stories, presents lots of
