Playboy Partners with Pitbull in Bid to 'Re-interpret' Brand

LOS ANGELES—New Zealand's 3News is reporting that Playboy has entered into a partnership with rapper Pitbull on "a series of collaborative projects," the first of which—a "creative cross-pollination" between the two parties—will be "the new video for Pitbull's single 'Wild Wild Love', which was filmed at the Playboy Mansion earlier this month."

According to the article, Pitbull, "real name Armando Christian Perez, is hoping the partnership will raise his profile as a brand, while executives at Playboy hope the rapper's involvement will re-energise the 60-year-old company's image."

Easily recognizable by his trademark shades and shaved head, Pitbull said of the partnership, "In order to become an iconic brand you have to partner up with one," said. What's more iconic than Playboy? It's an honor to partner with Playboy Enterprises."

Playboy Enterprises CEO Scott Flanders commented, "We're bringing new energy and enthusiasm to the iconic Playboy brand in our 60th year. Throughout our history we've collaborated with artists and cultural tastemakers who both embody the Playboy lifestyle and interpret it in their own images. Today we're taking a big step in re-interpreting our enduring brand for a new generation by welcoming Armando into the fold. His magnetic energy, charisma and style combined with his clear talent as an entrepreneur exemplify the aspirational lifestyle that defines our brand. We're looking forward to doing some great things together."
