Pirate Booty Productions creates what its owners proudly describe as “outsider porn.” Their ongoing line, Psychocandy, is well out of the adult video mainstream, purveying what they call “hardcore-straight, fantasy-amateur, goth and punk porn.” Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 have been released, with more in the pipeline.
Pirate Booty is the creation of Benny and Rebecca, although, Benny told AVN.com, “technically, we’re a collective—really just five or six friends who got together and did this for love of porn.”
They market their videos (DVD only) primarily through their Website, www.profanepirate.com , The DVDs are 90 minutes, plus bonus, Behind the Scenes and tease footage. They also have some wholesale distribution through AVNS.
“Have we ever professionally worked in producing porn?” Benny asked rhetorically. “No. Which we kind of thought was one of our strengths, that we were coming to this blind and making it up as we go.”
Becca added, “We’re doing something right, cuz people keep on saying, ‘This is like nothing I’ve ever seen before.’”
The pair, Benny said, had been critics for “a couple of the smaller magazine in the ‘90s” and were involved with, in Becca’s words, “the whole L. A. S/M club scene.”
Pirate Booty began when they, “along with other people who are helping us out, got fed up with the same girls in the same porn doing the same things—siliconed, blonde… We just wanted to do something with a little more creativity, a little more genuine, using real amateur girls.”
“We have really fun sex lives,” says Benny, “and we wanted to see porn that looked like the sex we have in real life—with punk rock and gothic girls with different bodies. We started setting up the company in March, and we shot through June. And we have been editing, packaging…”
“Which is all self-done,” Becca continues. “We don’t hire anybody. Benny does all the editing. We have a guy in New York, his name is Carlos, he does all the box covers and our Website. We want to have complete creative control of everything we do.”
Benny said that although they have worked with “a couple of professional girls, “we have been getting much better scenes from just girls that we know in our personal lives.” They also recruit talent through classified ads.
Benny himself is the male talent. “Myself and Jonathan Daggers,” he says. Becca does not appear on camera.
“We’re popping up in the damnedest places,” he adds. “We have friends in Texas who are mortified to see me naked.”

Benny says the casting call “has had a terrific response. We have shot a couple of girls who just were fans of the site. It’s something where girls and couples who like us can get involved.”
Becca cautions prospective talent that “we’re looking for fun people who take porn seriously. They like to fuck but they like to have a good time doing it.”
“We’re looking for real girls. Real girls who are really into sex,” Benny adds.
“Who like to laugh at themselves,” Becca finishes.
