Pik-Kwik Vice-President Indicted on Felony Obscenity Charges

Jeffery Busemeyer was indicted yesterday on four felony charges of pandering obscenity.

Butler County prosecutors showed four tapes purchased at Pik-Kwik, the store where Busemeyer serves as vice-president, to a grand jury yesterday.

The grand jury agreed that four tapes the Butler County prosecutor showed them went against the community standards in West Chester, indicting the shop's Vice president.

Still, shops like Hustler of Hollywood and other adult video stores in Butler County continue to do big business, in fact even Pik-Kwik remains open, selling tapes and magazines.

West Chester police have been investigating complaints about Pik-Kwik for nearly a year and a half.

"West Chester prides itself on being a family oriented community. Obviously, when you have issues such as this arise, it sometimes in contrast to the family community environment and it's the quality of life issue you hear about, the key phrase people use now-a-days. Pandering obscenity plays into the quality of life in a community such as West Chester," Captain David Kelly of West Chester Police said.

Busemeyer was not arrested Wednesday, but will be summonsed to court for his trial. Each of the felonies he is charged with carry a potential year's prison sentence and a $2,500 fine.
