Pierre Fitch defies porn convention by taking control of his career with a hot vanity site

A few things to love about Canada: excellent health care benefits for all, legalized gay marriage, potty-mouthed rocker chicks like Alanis Morissette who’d go down on you in a theater, beautiful tourist attractions like Niagara Falls…and Pierre Fitch.

Unsure about that last one, are we? Well, for those not “in the know,” Fitch is one of gaydom’s most highly sought porn stars—both online and off. After starting his career in XXX entertainment at the tender age of 18 with a home-based webcam site, the Cornwall, Ontario, native (who says he “always wanted to become a porn star”) soon caught the attention of several webmasters, and was soon a top attraction on popular sites like MontrealBoysLive.com and VideoBoys.com. But Fitch had bigger plans for himself. Ever the ambitious stud-for-hire, he threw himself into an intense workout regimen, and within a year he was satisfied enough with the results of his efforts that he contacted Falcon Studios and applied to be one of their models. Within days, he was on a flight to San Francisco to film his first movie, Long Shot: Making the Game.

With his come-hither bedroom eyes and his smooth, muscular physique, Fitch easily won over video fans as well. From his work in Falcon flicks like Born to Be Bad (evidently, a very appropriate title for Fitch) to the recently GAyVN Award-nominated Through the Woods (Fitch is up for Best Actor and Best Sex Scene for his pairing with Gus Mattox), Fitch has emerged as the kind of Abercrombie-esque jock that can turn heads—and give head, too. He even won over his toughest fan—his husband, who, after previously shunning the adult industry, eventually warmed up to it enough to adopt the name Ralph Woods and film a few videos himself.

After taking a short break from the video business to let domestic bliss sink in (the two were legally married last year), Fitch is back with two new movies slated for release from Falcon this year. But he hasn’t forgotten where he came from. Indeed, with the recent launch of PierreFitch.com, the hardworking porn player has taken the reins of his career firmly into his own hands. Offering not only extensive galleries of delectable photos to drool over, but a blog, a store, and two live webcam shows a week, the site is home to all things Pierre. Perhaps most interestingly, Fitch is the mastermind behind the whole shebang, managing all the content, scheduling the updates, and taking the fall for any mistakes that might happen while he learns the ins and outs of webmaster technology.

Such tenaciousness is admirable in porn stars, who typically are dismissed, even by those who profit from them, as being one-trick ponies. Fitch, however, is helping to set the bar a little higher, showing models that it’s possible to be both desirable and industrious.

Ken Knox: OK, so first, tell me about your new website, PierreFitchOnline.com. What made you want to start your own site?

Pierre Fitch: I started my own webcam site when I was, like, 18. I always wanted to become a porn star. Then I had my PierreCam site and I had that for a little while. Then I opened up PierreFitchOnline.com and started with that website. I was working with a company, MontrealBoysLive, and they were helping me with my site, and then a little bit after that I started doing videos with a few other companies like HMBoys and some other little companies. And then after that I started working out and got some muscles and I applied with Falcon, and after that I started Pierre_Fitch.com. It’s better than going to a regular job every day. I wanted to do webcam stuff and make a lot of money. I knew when I started working with Falcon that I was going to build a pretty big fan base. I was already popular with my other sites, but Falcon helped a lot. They got my name out there, and now people are always reviewing my sites and reviewing my videos.

It seems you have a bit more going on with your site than a lot of your standard porn star vanity sites. Was it important to you to set yourself apart from the others?

Yeah, it was. I have everything on there. I have a blog, a guestbook, my pics, and I do webcam shows twice a week and add a new video every week. I think it’s cool to have a website like that so you can build a fan base and interact with them.

What I find to be most interesting is that you seem to be very much behind everything that goes on with your site. Would that be true?

Yeah, I love to be in control of everything. Like, with all my other sites before, I wasn’t really in charge. It was like a 50-50 kind of deal. Not long ago, I was with Badpuppy, and before that I was with VideoBoys, and I just got tired of giving a percentage out to people and not being able to see everything that goes on on my site, so I just said, “Screw this. I’m going to do everything on my own and learn and take it over.”

I would imagine that throwing yourself into such an endeavor would have to be a bit of a learning process. What has it been like for you, learning the language of webmasters?

I already knew how to do basic websites and stuff. The thing I had to learn was how to encode videos and get it all right. Like, when I first started shooting videos, the quality looked like crap. I didn’t really encode videos well, so I got myself a Mac computer, which made it easier. And I used iMovie to edit everything and I got a cleaner tool that encodes everything for me. And also on the message boards, like [GayWideWebmasters.com], I learned a lot from there, too. There’s a lot of things to learn there. Sometimes when I ask questions, though, I feel kind of stupid. But it’s OK. It’s good to learn.

Having worked on both sides of the industry now – with both video companies and now your own website – what do you see as being the primary differences between traditional porn producers who release DVDs and the webmasters who produce content specifically for the Web?

When you work with Falcon, they do all the shooting, and with me, I have to have my boyfriend do all the work. And now that he’s working, it’s getting harder to get him to shoot me, so I’m going to have to find somebody else to shoot me. He just started his new job three weeks ago. He works as tech support for a telephone company.

What’s been the most rewarding part of launching the site so far?

My God, building a huge fan base has been a great achievement. I really enjoy interacting with them—and tons of money. [Laughs] Fuck, it’s coming in like crazy.

Speaking of fans, what are yours like?

They’re cool. Some of them are a little weird, but some of them are OK. I get a lot of weird emails. [Laughs] I try to be nice and reply to them, but some of them are a little odd to chat with. The odd ones I try to stay away from. There’s this one guy who writes asking me to do a video where someone punches me in the abs. And one’s totally in love with me. He keeps posting the weirdest things on my site. It’s a little crazy sometimes, but it’s all good. I like my fans. [Laughs]

What are some future plans that you’ve got in mind? Anything you’re at liberty or at will to reveal to us?

I’d like to do some action videos with myself and someone else, but I don’t know if that’s going to happen. [Whispers] The husband doesn’t like it. [Laughs] He’s a little bored of the adult thing now that he has a new job. We’re actually thinking of buying a house, me and my husband, and we’re going to probably have our own company soon. I like things in computers a lot, so I’ll probably end up opening something in computers.

So, how do you feel about your nominations for the GAyVN Awards? Are you excited?

Yeah, that’s cool! I was really surprised when I heard. I was, like, “What? I’m nominated? That’s awesome.” I’m going to try and go. I’ve never been to an awards show. And I haven’t seen Chi Chi in a long time, so I’d like to see her.

It’s got to be a little flattering that at least some people are honoring you for having what they perceive to be award-worthy sex. Tell me, how does your personal love life differ from the sex you have on screen?

It’s not the same. Having sex with my own man, it’s like making love. Having sex on screen, it’s just, like, “OK, I’m going to fuck you” or “You’re going to fuck me.” And then it’s, like, “OK, are we done?” I don’t really care as much. I’m just going there to make my movie, take the money and go home. [Laughs] I go for the trip, too. I love traveling. That’s the fun part that I like. One day, you’ll do a scene, and the next day you’ll take a break, so you always get a day to yourself to go out and explore.

Tell me a little bit more about your transition from webcam sites to doing video porn.

I started working with a lot of small companies. And then I went and looked at the Falcon site, and I noticed that all the guys had big muscles. And I was kind of skinny, so I was, like, “Oh, my God, I have to go to the gym now.” [Laughs] So, I motivated myself to go to the gym, and in a year or so, I’d gained quite a bit of weight and I took some pictures and sent them over to Falcon. And the next day they called me and flew me over right away.

What was your experience with porn before you got into the business?

Well, like I said, I wanted to become a porn star when I was a young kid. I saw it on TV and I was, like, “Ooh, I want to do that!” It looked really fun. You know, sex, hmmmm? [Laughs]

When you got into it, was it what you expected it to be? What was your reaction?

Well, I was kinda nervous the first time I got into it—all these people with video cameras. It was unnerving. Actually, the craziest experience was with Falcon when I went to do my first movie. My God, they had, like, eight guys in one room! Some guy with lights, some guys with cameras, and there were so many people just standing around. Even though I’d done a lot of porn before on the websites, I was, like, “Jesus, this is how Falcon works? What do I do?” [Laughs] It was kind of strange. I felt like I was a big movie star or something. And there were people who had nothing to do with the movie just watching, so it took me an hour to get used to the people before I could even get hard. I was just, like, “I don’t know what to do. I’m shy!” [Laughs] So, I guess that’s another way that regular video porn is different from the Web stuff: more people on the sets!

Yeah, that’s how it is when you run with the big dogs. [Laughs] Did you eventually get used to it, or is there something you have to do to mentally prepare yourself for a shoot now?

Not at all. Now I’m all into it. It was just that first movie where it was, like, “Oh no.” And then every movie after that was like, “OK, are we done now?” I wasn’t nervous at all. I just went in there and pulled off my clothes and got into it. Now I’m always ready to go. I’m just a horny boy! [Laughs]

Nice. So, what about your friends and family? How have they reacted to your being in the porn business?

Oh, they know I do all this stuff, and they say, “As long as you are happy.” I mean, usually some parents would say, “OK, my son is in porn. What the hell?” [Laughs] But they’re cool. The husband was another story. I kind of stopped doing porn when I first met him for a few months. He was totally against porn. Every time he looked at my website he would say, “I don’t want to see you do this. This is disgusting.”

Really!? So, what changed?

It was funny. I was working with MontrealBoysLive and I went to do a live camera show. And he came along and he was in their office, and all of a sudden he just said, “I want you to film me. I just want to see how I look on camera.” So he did it, and from that point on, he wanted his own website and wanted to do videos. He applied to Falcon, and then everything was good. He took his last name from the name of Reese Witherspoon’s dog in Legally Blonde, Bruiser Woods. [Laughs] It’s, like, his favorite movie! He’s got Reese Witherspoon’s autograph on the wall here.

That’s too funny. You corrupted your husband!

Yeah, I know! [Laughs]

Do you have a favorite experience from being in porn? A favorite scene or director or co-star or just an on-set experience?

I think [working] with Chi Chi LaRue on Through the Woods was the most fun. That was a fun movie. Running through all those woods in my Little Red Riding Hood getup! [Laughs]

Is there anyone that you want to work with?

Oh, I don’t know. There are so many of them, I can’t even pick. [Laughs]

Any kind of goal you have right now that you’d like to accomplish in the business?

I hope my site lasts for a long time—until I start getting wrinkles. [Laughs]

Where do you hope to see yourself in, say, five years?

Wow, that’s a long time. In five years, I’m going to have a house, and I’m probably going to have a computer business. I’ll probably be doing my own website still, but I won’t be working for other [adult-oriented] companies. I’m probably going to end that to go into computers.

OK, finish this sentence for me: My dick is to me like?

My personal soldier. Always ready to work, he stands straight and he's always ready to take action, Thick fat gun always loaded of that chemical cream that makes people go crazy.

Hmmm, suddenly I'm feeling very thirsty.
