Random observations and encounters from the opening day (Friday, June 20) of Erotica Los Angeles at the downtown Convention Center:
-Overseeing the show from high above in the media room, I'm immediately struck by how the floor plan looks way more impressive this year; much more like the big-time Adult Entertainment Expo thrown in Vegas every January. While not everyone connected to the show agrees with my observation, AVN Associate Editor Dan Miller and AVN photog Todd Rosenblum do. The three of us sit in the AVN booth, identical to the booth in Vegas, across from which is the Wicked booth, again, just like in Vegas, and we feel like we're in some sort of space-time warp.
-The first porn babe I run into is perfect ten Amber Michaels, who recounts a funny, somewhat embarrassing bit about how a printer mistakenly made up 2,500 cards for her fans with her phone number on them. Oops. She hands me of the cards, with the top chopped off, where her phone number was.
