Photo, Movie Searches at AskJolene.com

Adult search engine AskJolene.com recently launched with one goal in mind: to scour the Internet for porn. Fans and Webmasters can use AskJolene.com to find specific adult images, among other services.

"AskJolene.com is an advanced full-text search engine, specifically designed for adult thumbnail galleries," Managing Director Toine Verheul told AVN.com. "Just type one or more keywords and within a split second the resulting galleries appear. All results are sorted by date and relevance to your keywords."

According to Verheul, AskJolene.com indexes over 500,000 photo galleries across the Web every day via a “self-learning” gallery classification system that automatically filters the galleries from millions of documents. The database is updated every day, with galleries that have ceased to exist or have been redirected to dialers or server pop-ups automatically removed.

"The nice thing about AskJolene is its similarity with regular search engines like Google, AllTheWeb, and AltVista," said Verheul. "AskJolene visits pages all over the world just like the others, but only adult galleries are indexed and put into the database."

Users can search for galleries by entering specific queries. For example, the query "sex" returns 75,927 galleries.

"We're actually a bunch of software developers trained in information retrieval and machine-learning algorithms," Verheul explained. "AskJolene is stuffed with such techniques. The more documents we retrieve and classify, the better the software gets. Each document is examined with respect to language, link-structure, and multimedia aspects. It's all based on academic theories which we frequently test, trying to balance them with a realistic software approach."

Despite the little-known name and no marketing efforts, AskJolene claims to be serving over 180,000 queries daily, with traffic increasing by 15 percent each month.

"The site, in its current configuration, has been active for about six months now," said Verheul. "At present, our main goal is to promote the site and get some consumer attention. We haven't yet found a competitor who uses these techniques in the adult-market."
