Phoenix Now a Free Agent

Lauren Phoenix, the 2005 AVN Female Performer of the Year, has ended her contract of six months with Defiance Films.

“I really want to focus my attention on acting and directing more,” Phoenix exclusively told AVN.com. “There is no bad blood between myself and Defiance…they were like a close family for me. But I feel like being a free agent would give me more time both in front of, and behind, the camera.”

Phoenix went on to say that “both my fans and a lot of industry people have asked me to do more acting this last year, and nothing makes me happier than being appreciated for what I do…I really want to get out there more.”

Phoenix also has plans to take a more aggressive stance in directing her own titles. “I want to take more control of the directing process…do the camera work and shoot the stills. The more control I take, in my opinion, the clearer my vision will become.”

Phoenix is also closing down her modeling agency, the Lauren Phoenix Agency, and going back to LA Direct Models for representation. “Running the agency has been really great. I’ve learned a lot from the girls, and it’s given me a new appreciation for people who run modeling agencies,” Phoenix said. “I’m just really trying to focus on acting and directing right now.”

“I think this is the best move for my career.”
