Phil Varone to Fete New Book, Movie at Button South Event

HALLANDALE, Fla.—Rocker, porn director and now author Phil Varone continues the promotional tour for his new Vivid Entertainment release 100% Real Swingers: Big Bear, out tomorrow, and his autobiography Unphiltered: Real Life On and Off the Rock 'N Roll Tour Bus, hitting stands Wednesday, with a party April 25 at the former Button South nightclub kicking off the third-annual, three-day Button South Class Reunion music fest.

The Button South, now The Cheetah Hallandale (100 Ansin Blvd., Hallandale, FL 33009), was South Florida's hotspot during the '80s and '90s for live punk and heavy metal music, where bands like Varone's Saigon Kick and Skid Row would play and party until 6 in the morning.

With Varone hosting, The Button South Class Reunion III kick-off party is being sponsored by Vivid and California Exotic Novelties, and admission will be free. There will also be gift bags and giveaways distributed to attendees.

The event continues April 26 and 27 at The Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale (3045 N. Federal Hwy, Ft. Lauderdale, FLA 33306), with Varone joined in hosting duties by Steve Stansell (97 GTR), Liz Wilde (WSHE), Madman Mike (97 GTR) and Bill Murphy (97 GTR). Ten bands that played on The Button South stage will perform, including Gypsy Queen, Driver, Steven Jude & The Rising, Heartless, Motor Canaveral, The Legion, Miami Dolls and Phineas J. Whoopie.

Tickets are available through Ticketmaster or at the box office for $12 per night or $20 for the entire weekend. For more information, call (954) 561-0099.
