Peterson's Porn Purchase "Irrelevant": Defense

Whether or when Scott Peterson bought adult satellite channels following his pregnant wife's disappearance was irrelevant to whether Peterson murdered his wife and unborn child, Peterson's defense argued in August 3 testimony.

Prosecutors put EchoStar satellite television service manager Donald Toy on the stand, where he told the court Laci Peterson first ordered their service in March 2001 but her husband, about two weeks after she was reported missing, changed the account to bring in the Playboy Channel and also brought in more adult channels a few days afterward.

Peterson's defense argued the testimony was irrelevant as well as a bid for character assassination, but the San Francisco Chronicle said the judge allowed the testimony on grounds the jury could draw their own conclusion about the satellite porn.

A Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department official is scheduled to testify on matters regarding the hard drive on Peterson's computer, but it wasn't known whether this would include anything to do with things like Internet porn.
