Penthouse Boutique Secures License

The Penthouse Boutique received its license to sell adult products on Monday and finally is doing business with a full inventory of adult merchandise.

"Good things come to those who wait," Lewis Adams, the general manager of Smash Pictures who has been closely involved in the process, told AVN.com.

The first retail establishment bearing the Penthouse name came under fire from local Mayor James Richetelli, who pulled the store's permit minutes before it was scheduled to open on July 24. The mayor said the store had a zoning license, but that it did not apply for a city license which can take up to 30 days to process.

To counter the last-minute licensing issue, the store temporarily pulled its adult merchandise, staying open with non-explicit novelties and gift items.

“We knew we were 100 percent in the right from the very beginning," Dan Quinn, owner/CEO, said this week. "It’s a good day for me. It’s a good day for the industry.”

The 10,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility includes everything from porcelain floors and crystal chandeliers to plasma screens and an electronic video catalog.

“Our new generation of adult consumers are couples and women who prefer to shop the same way they do in other high-end retail stores and that’s precisely what I’m going to give them," Quinn said.

The Penthouse Boutique is located at exit 40 off Interstate 95.
