Penthouse Boutique Celebrates Grand Opening In Spite of Protest

Tera Patrick and several other Penthouse Pets attended the grand opening of the Penthouse Boutique Thursday night despite a flurry of protests from local factions.

According to wire reports, Mayor James Richetelli pulled the store's permit minutes before it was scheduled to open. The mayor said the store has a zoning license, but that it did not apply for a city license, nbc30.com reported. A city license can take up to 30 days to process, the report said.

Penthouse store manager Gary Cohen told the news service earlier Thursday the boutique would not sell anything, but would celebrate the grand opening as planned.

"We're unable to retail, but we're going to have the biggest party Milford has seen in quite a long time," he said.

Protesters lined the storefront and carried derogatory signs, but that did not seem to dull the spirits of people who worked hard to make the store a reality. Smash Pictures general manager Lewis Adams attended the gala and told AVN.com Friday that the event was a success nonetheless.
